Hi all. This is what I'm doing currently with my grade 4's.
I open with this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GC2OVPgB2uE&NR=1

Then use the PPT.

At the end of the PPT there's a calendar. I have laminated #'s 1-31 and each student recieves a number. They then would proceed to say which day their number is on.

breejj, thank you so much. My Co-T, in all her infinite sodding wisdom just changed the schedule and told me we had to start the nex lesson tomorrow. Y'know, instead of the lesson that I has spent a ocuple of hours preparing before. *Sigh* Anyway, this is a timely godsend and just perfect so thank you for getting the ball rolling so early.

So, I took breejj's ppt and added some stuff for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I also added the Korean calendar abbreviations for the days. The vast lion's share of the work was breejj's.

On this powerpoint, each slide has a calendar month on it for 2011. Ask each student to tell you their birthday, and have them tell you what day their birthday falls on (Sun, Mon, etc). Write it on the board. Go through all the months. Once finished, ask all the students whose birthday is on a Sunday to stand up. "What day is your birthday on?" "My birthday is on Sunday." Optional: ask them what they got for their birthday. Repeat.

Is it just me, or does the whole "what's for lunch? we have chicken" sounds weird? Like the 'we have' part. It sounds like an incomplete sentence to me. Like shouldn't it be 'we have chicken today or we have chicken for lunch today, or we are having chicken', or just plain answer with 'chicken'. I think 'we are having chicken' sounds more complete.

This is a song adapted from a book by Eric Carle "Today is Monday". My students enjoy singing the song, and the contents are very relevant to this lesson.

Here's a game I made for the end of the chapter~ Bomb game by nature. It was my first time making a bomb game from scratch (Finally got ppt in English so I could figure out the triggers~)

For the practice on the first calendar: Call out a students number. They should stand and say the day that their number is on this month. Ex: T"Number 4!" S: "Today is Tuesday."

The game itself should be pretty self-explanatory... Just be sure to change the slides that are personalized for me and my class.

unscramble days of the week and a survey activity- for the survey activity, where it says "my lunch" the students need to fill it in with one of the foods in the brackets. Can't use a food twice. Then the student goes to 7 different studetns and says 'it's ______. What's for lunch?" that student looks at what he/she wrote down for each day and replies "we have _____."   ---  more confusing than it sounds, just check out the document and I'm sure you'll figure it out :)

Seven days of the week (I never go to work)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3Kgj6EiZtw&feature=player_embedded#!

Lyrics:
Oh no, no, I never go to work. (X4)

On Mondays, I never go to work.
On Tuesdays, I stay at home.
On Wednesdays, I never feel inclined.
Work is the last thing on my mind.
On Thursdays, it's a holiday!
And Fridays I detest.
Oh it's much too late on a Saturday,
And Sunday is the day of rest.

Oh yes, yes, practice trumpet everyday. (X4)
Practice Monday.
Practice Tuesday.
Practice Wednesday.
Practice Thursday,
And Friday.
And I practiced all night on Saturday,
So on Sundays I played best.

As an introduction, I'm going to use the hungry caterpillar.

I first show the video then ask the ss to try and remember what he ate and the days that he ate it.
I've attached the worksheet that goes with.

Here are some cards that you can print, laminate and cut up that go along with the "Act and Play" portion of the text (third period).  Nothing special - "What day is it?," "What's for lunch?," "We have OOOO and OOOO." ~10 minute run around/speaking/listening/writing survey activity

1) Grade 4 - Unit 11 - It's Tuesday - Grammar (P1)

used as the grammar intro in the first lesson. (taken from another uploader / pictures slightly modified and slides made a little clearer / added some more stuff to the end).

2) Grade 4 - Unit 11 - It's Tuesday - Hidden Picture Game

click a tile to remove it ... click the star to remove all tiles at once. students must guess the hidden picture. the first team to do so wins points.

3) Grade 4 - Unit 11 - Slap & Whisper Game Flash Cards

days of the week flash cards ... print and laminate
can be used for.....
- the whisper game (telephone game)
- slapping game - students work in pairs, each pair has a set of flash cards .... teacher souts the day ... first student to slap their hand on the correct flash cards wins.

4) Grade 5 - Unit 11 - It's Tuesday - Grammar Intro (P2)

Grammar for the second part of the unit .... on this i have added subjects to the slides ... the students will learn the phrase ... ' I have math class on Tuesday'

5) Grade 5 - Unit 11 - It's Tuesday - Mario Game

Here is a simple PPT game that is specific to the new book. A lot of other games on here use school subjects, but that's not in this chapter. Hope this helps.

I checked this awesome game.

But where can i find where to "download the fonts" ?/

I want to edit this PPT so i can change 3/4 of the questions for chapters 9 and 10 and create a review for my kids for their exams.

I made the Fruit Ninja game template into a game specific to this chapter.   Days of the week and food seem a little strange together to me -- not to mention the weird "We have _____." thing...but, I have to teach it as is, so here's a game to go with it.

Thanks for template, Daejon!

*I was looking through it and realized that there is a slide other teachers may want to change.  I included blueberry pie on one of the slides, and I realized that some students may not know what it is.  My students all know what blueberry pie is and that I love it thanks to a ridiculous video I made with my coteacher.  It involves me looking longingly at a picture of my parents and a student asking me what kind of food I like.
