GREAT game for middle schoolers
« on: September 19, 2011, 04:46:25 PM »
Hello!

I didn't make this, but I found it elsewhere online... it was free.

I've tried it with all of my classes and it has been a great success with every single one. The bad kids try to cheat but I just let them because at least they're trying.

I usually go through round 1 as an example and then with 3 teams go through the rest-- it takes the whole period. Oh yeah, and I ignore the timer and just use the stopwatch in my Casio... I give my students at least a minute... 1:30 if they're really low.

Enjoy!

Thanks so  much! Will do it with my after school kids today! Here is a short ppt I made of a few words that a few of my slower students might not know

Thanks for this it looks great for my classes next week. Just to clarify though...the students that are giving the hints aren't allowed say the word that's revealed behind the bar??? Is that right? for example for the first hint in round one they're not allowed say 'ghosts' they have to say something like scary white things??? Cheers apologies for being a dumb *ss ;-)

This lesson seems genius, been looking for a way to entertain them without having to fall back on mr. bean or really basic games that don't involve the whole class. I was wondering roughly how big should the teams be?
Thanks

Yeah, that's right.

And I've been making 3 teams with 25 students... but it's up to you.

This took me some time to figure out, but I think I get it~
How could you play with 7 teams, and know who got points for each word? I am going to use it for after-school, and try it with 3 teams of 3 students. That should be manageable.
Also, you can ctrl-f and switch all instances of "Louie" with your name, and make it seem more original!
Cheers for re-posting!

I used this game to great effect with my 2nd grade middle school students.  I am posting a revised version with different categories.  It's a little bit easier and less holiday-focused than the original.  Thanks to the original poster for the template!
