Here's a very basic ppt for this lesson.

BOMB GAME. Very basic, for first class maybe

This is a bomb game for lesson 9 part 1. It is basic, just for the kids to get use to the new vocab and sentences. A more detailed (and comic) one will be posted soon.

Attached are 3 ppts:
1.Lesson 1 - intro. - this is a ppt I found that was in dollars, I changed it to won and some items.
2.Price is right game. - I prefer this game over the others I have found, I did not make this but it is not attached to this thread.
3.May I help you game. - I made this ppt originally for the 6th grade lesson. I have dumbed it down a bit and changed the prices from dollars to won. I used pictures of myself as the shopkeeper but removed them for waygook.

A useful song for practicing the "I want a ____" expression. A Shirley Temple piece, "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas."

Here is a game that involves a giant Yut Nori Board (sorry, you will have to make one - or draw it on the chalk board)

1) Divide the class into groups of 7-8 (should have about 4 teams).

2) Two students will come up from one group, and using the Powerpoint attached, must create a question and a response (How much is this dvd? It is $18 dollars).

3) If they have a correct response, they can throw the Yut and move their marker.

4) Repeat for each team, and for each round ensure that the teams cycle through their players.

here is a ptt.

and a work sheet.

i pasted the items from  the second page into the first, bc it wouldn't all fit on one pg of a word doc

the third page are just big numbers, i used it to practice hundreds and thousands, i would put the numbers on the board, and two students would have pointers, i would read a number and whoever pointed to it first, got a pt for their team, a fun way to practice.

Here are some games we played for my open class

the scavenger hunt only takes a few minutes to actually play, but i think they liked the ppt... and there are some extra slides at the bottom that i made but didn't include to make the instructions shorter.

and the scavenger hunt leads into the next activity- shopping but  you'll need to print out the materials from the british council website

and finally the sales ppt just explains what garage and yard sales are, and some other common sale signs seen in america and such...

so yeah, maybe someone can use them...?

Here are some assets for that can be used to supplement your textbook for this unit. This file contains four handouts meant to be used over the length of the entire unit. These are meant to build on the vocabulary and expressions in the unit and other skills.

I teach at a school where most of the students have lived or studied overseas, so some other students/school may find this difficult.

Gameboards for Tactical Tic-Tac-Toe.

These cover "May I help you.", "I want a [._.]." and "How much is it?". The three boards/shops on the page gradually increase in difficulty by bringing in new vocab.

Print one per 2 students.

Student A says the first line, then Student B says the next couple (chooses row) and finally Student A says the final price (chooses a column). The intersection of the row and column is where Student A sticks their game piece/mark. 3 in a row wins, diagonals OK.

Guessing Game Powerpoint Slideshow

Has ten slides covering everything from ones, up to millions and you can use it in many ways.

My recommendation is to play in groups and on each slide roll a dice. The number that comes up is the group that starts (else groups 3 and 6 tend to dominate). Get the class to call out together "How much is it?" or "How much is this [._.]?" The group must then guess an answer and respond with "It's [._.] dollars." The teacher will then say if they are too low or too high and the next group in order gets control. The first group to get the answer correct or acceptably close to gets a set number of points, or gets to roll a rewards dice to choose their points (or other things like stealing points or clearing the board of points).

Items are as follows:
Apple($1), pencilcase ($4), backpack/bag ($19), top hat ($40), game ($60 RRP), console/Wii ($200), iphone4 ($650), used Hyundai ($3,500), island ($2,000,000), Bugatti Veyron ($2,400,000).
