(대한 교과서 Taehan) Grade 3, Lesson 11 - "What Color is It?"
« on: September 21, 2011, 10:11:08 am »
Here is a Minesweeper bomb game using colors with fruits and vegetables along with the sentence pattern "It's a ___adjective__ ___noun____."

Target Vocabulary:  Red, Green, White, Brown, Purple, Orange
Cucumber, Zucchini, Pumpkin, Carrot, Onion, Potato, Cherry Tomato, Cabbage, Pepper, Grape

It covers 30 questions which fits my classes of 6 teams with 4 students per team which covers 20 minutes of class time.

If you need more, just copy the slide, paste it at the end, and rearrange the point and bomb textboxes.

(I thank the person whose Minesweeper game for Lesson 10 I downloaded and modified.)

Using the latest version of PowerPoint, for some reason, the wheel doesn't spin - thus ruining the game.

Anybody know why and how to fix it?

iggyb, any chance you could re-upload those in .ppt format?
when i convert from open office format (i don't have .pptx), it deletes all the special effects and links.

that'd be much appreciated! ^_^

Grade 3; lesson 11; What colour is it? It's green, red, blue, black, yellow, pink, brown, purple etc.

Hi. This is a game I used for my open class. It's quite a fun game. Each slide is a colour plus it has another colour written on that same slide but in a different colour. Little confusing, but just check it out for a better understanding. Students are divided into groups and they theyn have to speak/say the colour of the slide and not the word that's written on the slide. Each group is timed while doing this and the fastest group wins. Good practice and most kids find the target language easy enough.

Feel free to edit :)

Hi. Here's an introductory ppt for the Grade 3; lesson 11: What colour is it? Here are also many examples for students to fully comprehend the target language and practice all at once. E.g. What colour is it? It's red. What colour it the chair? The chair is red etc. I'll be using it next year again ;-)

Some great ideas and attachments here.

Simple Idea if you didn't want to use a PPT, each side of the room is a colour, preferably stick a colour to each wall, all students stand up, when you call a colour, they have to jump and face the colour. Get faster and do combinations as it goes on. Good filler or get the students into a good mood.

I changed this paint by letter picture to go with the ones taught in this unit.  There are only four colours, but it filled up the last 10 minutes of class, which is what I needed.

I made this warm-up PPT which I will do before the minesweeper game also posted in this thread.

It's simple and doing it ensures that the kids don't have any confusion when playing the minesweeper game.
