Optical Illusions and Riddles
« on: October 06, 2011, 10:47:22 AM »
This is a mashup of a riddle lesson that I made and an optical illusion lesson that I first downloaded from waygook (although I can no longer locate said ppt on waygook...).  It's just a ppt with a mixture of easy riddles and a few optical illusions.  It opens with a little vocabulary and is accompanied by a worksheet.  It is a good filler lesson for before breaks or whatever.  The kids have fun with it and I rarely have time to show any videos but if I do, I use the following:

Kevin James as evil doctor

Thank you so much for this lesson! My students loved it!

I went ahead and tweaked it a bit for my High School (and my own style).

First I introduced optical illusions, showed examples, then a video.

Then I talked about riddles, gave examples and had a riddle race.

The riddle race was an idea from another lesson I saw on Waygook.

First, I cut out the riddles from my riddle list.

Students are in groups, and I give them riddle number 1. Everyone tries to solve. The group will tell me the answer, and I will give them riddle number 2 if they are right. Then riddle number 3, and so on.

Whoever gets the most right at the end of class will get candy. :D

We only got to around riddle 11 in class.

What is the idea behind the last slide? I just see a family sitting on a sofa.

UPDATED with more stuff. Could be a two lesson.

Decided to make my own version out of boredom. Similar ideas and slides as others, just in my style - clean. Hyperlinks attached to pictures where slides say watch.
