(대교 Daegyo) Grade 4, Lesson 10 - "Is This Your Bag?"
« on: October 11, 2011, 01:16:46 pm »
Hi Everyone

Start off the lesson with a ppt made from the key expressions in the book.  Also last year's book had a very similar lesson called "Is this your cap?'

These were cobbled together rather speedily I'm afraid but still useable.

By the way, how do you start a thread?  Sometimes I have resources that I could post but I'm not sure how to start a thread... sorry I'm not the most technologically minded.

I was trying to open a thread, too lol.  Hope this is helpful to someone along the way.  It's an introductory powerpoint.  Teach on!

You can start a thread by posting first under the appropriate index (i.e. Grade 4 Index). Next change the subject to describe the thread (i.e. Grade 4 Lesson 10 Is this your bag? Bora Book).  That way, the moderators know where to put it.  Finally, send a report to the moderator letting them (politely) know that a new thread needs to be opened. Just click "report to the moderator" at the end of the post.
Hope this helps.

Happy Teaching!

Here is the welcome song for this lesson.
Play it at the beginning of every class to welcome the students.  By the end of lesson 10, most of the students will be able to sing the song.

A guessing game I made based on another game I used for my 3rd grade classes. Students will form teams. Usually I have a student rotation going in each team, that way every student will have participated.

Students use the key expression: "Is this your <blue, green, red, grey> bag?"

Students choose one of the available colors and earn a point in the next slide if the color matches.

Finally, students guess if the response is "yes it is" or "no it isn't" for an additional point.

Here is a claim your land game for period 3. This is pair work.  It is a pretty simple layout. You can easily make a lot of copies with the brown paper.

Happy Teaching!

This looks like something I might want to use, but I don't understand the rules, I haven't seen the game before. Can you please explain how you play it?

sorry about that.  Have the 2 students put a coin on the worksheet. The students then do rock paper scissors. Winner goes first. The winner flicks the coin. Wherever the coins lands, the winner must read the sentence.  If he/she  can read it correctly, he/she can draw an O or X over the square.  Now it is the other student's turn.  The person with the most symbols (Xs or Os) at the end of the game, wins.

I've modified and completed the Angry Birds Game posted by Jamlove earlier (thank you Jamlove).  There are two full rounds now and I've played through the game without a hitch.  Although Jamlove's students may not have liked the game, mine are Angry-Birds-mad, so they loved it.  Hope it helps and thanks again for posting a working copy of the template Jamlove!

Here's a word-lotto game you can use for a writing activity during lesson 3.  My kids really enjoyed this one!  To play, hand out a blank sheet of paper to each of your students and have them number 1-10.  each number represents a slide on the .ppt.  for each number/slide, have each student write 3 words of their choice from the list on the slide.  Once all students have written their words, go to the next slide to see what three words came up in the "lotto."  Reward students for matching their words with the "lotto-word-draw."  All you need is paper and this .ppt!

Hi Everyone,

Maybe you have finished teaching lesson 10, but just in case here is another PowerPoint show. About half way through the presentation, there is also a simple game you can play with the whole class. Enjoy...

RB10855: The lesson, " Is this your Bag, Mario Game" was really good. My kids loved it, but the pictures weren't that straight forward and also the most important thing, the levels don't stay in place. What I mean is that, once you are done with a level or maybe you skip to another level, i.e, go from 1 to 2 after answering a question in level 2, for the NEXT question it will drop you back to level one. Its annoying having to remember what level and what place within a level because the screen wont stay on your level when finishing a question. That is something that needs to be fixed.
