This is for the book with Cartoon kids with a black girl jumping rope in the bottom right.
Lesson 11 How much is it?
This a game for the first period. I have an open class and deceided to post early.
4 teams, each team takes it in turn to guess the price of an object, everyone asks 'How much is the ...'
Reply : 'It's ....won'.
In the PPT there are pictures of one object and 5 prices, behind one price is a smiley face, if the kid guesses correctly then they get points, 1 guess = 5 points, 2 guesses = 4 points etc,

Where is this pokemon game? I don't see it anywhere. I'd love to check it out...especially if you were able to find a solution to the problem you speak of as well.

Hey all,
Haven't used this yet (will be for tomorrow's class), but given the lack of resources, I'm throwing it up right now in hopes that it will be helpful to someone or a decent template at the very least... :)

Here is a pass the ball game. I changed some of the key expressions slightly to try and expand the students understanding. Unfortuantely my co-teacher didn't like this idea because she thought it would confuse the students (she might have been right). So anyways, if its too hard simply change the expression all to "How much is it" instead of "How much does it cost".
The way I did the game was that the student holding the ball when the music stopped read/filled in the first part of the dialogue, and the rest of the class answered with the price. Hope it helps.

Can someone please tell me why they use the word "muffler" instead of scarf? I get that muffler is a heavy scarf but who uses "muffler" in their daily vernacular? (Update) So I just realized that ''a muffler'' in Britain is called a silencer but seriously what English speaking countries call a scarf ''a muffler''? I just can't imagine introducing this to the students.

Just a basic worksheet with a word find of the main vocabulary words and also an unscramble the code exercise focusing on the same vocabulary.

Here's a "Price Is Right" Game that I've modified to cover this unit's vocabulary. Enjoy!

Here's a different Angry Birds Game that I've updated to include this unit's vocab, and a bit of review from Unit 10. I've incorporated a few writing slides and translations slides, so if the Korean is off, please blame Google Translate ;-) To navigate the .ppt, make sure you click the green pig on the bottom left of the screen to move between the scoreboard (up to 6 teams) and the slide where students select the questions. Have fun!

I found this lesson more sickening than anything, like motion sickness. My kids didn't like the movement of this style. Maybe they are like me, no sudden movements! But its a pretty good one nonetheless!!!

The next class is about asking the price. I printed off some pictures of goods. My students are out of control, they like to play games but I have no idea how to make games fun. I am so frustrated

Here is a shopping list game I played for period two. Very similar to the game in the book but the handout gets the students to practice writing. Basically students pick 3 of the 9 vocab. items to sell and price them. Then they go around and but and sell items from each other until they have collected the other 6. After they finish they can start the word search on the back. If you run out of time they can always do the word search for homework. ;)
I have also attached a good intro or review ppt. I made.

this brief review - intended for a recap before the big review game - is based around the principles that
1. this lesson is boring and there are only so many ways to teach numbers
2. that which startles is often remembered.
thus i plan to essentially use the target language as a vessel - a medium if you will - for showing children odd and confusing pictures. Or vice versa, depending on your perspective and your interpretation of my motives.

Sorry I've been so remiss in adding materials!
So. Since this lesson is similar to last year's national curriculum, I took the liberty of revamping a few PowerPoints I thought were useful - cleaning them up and adjusting them to this year's vocabulary. I haven't done any of these yet, but I'm looking forward to doing them with my kids this week.
Also, I found the following youtube video very useful for, either for motivation or for period 1, eliciting the key sentence "How much is~" (I did this using hangman, and the kids just ate it up! ^*)
The link is here:
(My co-teacher has a version that has subtitles, but she downloaded it from indieschool; I'll try to upload it here on the morrow, if I remember! ^^)
Please find attached a Mario Game, an E-mart Quiz game/review (useful as a short review), and a money practice/speed pictures ppt/game.

This is just a quick pirate game to help the kids learn the new clothing vocabulary. My kiddos are pretty good with colors already so it basically focuses on mastering the new vocab. They seemed to like it.
Enjoy!
