Just a minor note: the E-mart game has a couple slides that need the word "much" added to it; small typo on my part, sorry about that. ^^ Make sure to check it out.

A ppt for 1st period.  Contains an introduction of the key words, a 'guess-the-word by the picture' game and an explanation of 'hundreds'.  :)

here's an information gap worksheet i made - a conversation between Bart and Apu... uses the "how much is the _______ in the window" as I used the doggy song as a warm up

The song, How much is that doggy in the window? is nice, but I found one that is animated decently and has the lyrics on the screen as subtitles.  I recommend this version ^^

This is a little like a pictionary activity. Kids love it, they must look at the pics and hints and try to figure out the sentence.
They get really into it, it takes up a good amount of time. Kid dont like giving up on it either!

Here is a game that reinforces vocabulary and gets kids to use the target phrases in the context of purchasing items. I drew pictures of the 6 items from the previous lesson (top, ball, watch, cup, bag, cap). I also drew the 6 clothing items from this lesson (T-shirt, coat, scarf (muffler), vest, belt, sweater). In a separate word document, I listed prices for all of the items.
2 teams, each starts with 2500 won.
The items are hung on the board and a member of each team, on their turn, stands up and uses the phrases, "I like this _________." "How much is it?" They have the option to take it after given the price, or choose a separate item which they then must pay for.

For a follow-up class, I had one student from each team come to the front and role play shopkeeper and customer, adding the phrases, "Can I help you?" "It's ____ won." and "Here you are."

It went over really well with the students and I recommend giving it a shot.
Attached are the instructions and the price list that I made for the items. If playing the game again with the same class, be sure the change the assigned prices around so the students don't remember what they were from the previous time.

For my review session (class 4) of this lesson, I did a game where the whole class gets to stand up and play. It's a market game, where half of the students are selling items and the other half are buying. The sellers had to make the most profit (most cash at the end and not have any items left over), and the buyers had to get the most items for the least amount of money.

The winner of the sellers is the one with the most cash, followed by fewest items in the event of a tie.
The winner of the buyers is the one with the most items, plus most cash left over in the event of a tie.

We used the picture cards for this lesson in the back of the book, as well as the page with pictures of Korean 1000 won notes. I divided the teams and gave them their instructions before telling them to remove these from the book. (The buyers will need scissors to cut out the "money" -- 12,000 won in all).
The sellers write prices for their items on the back of the card, either 1000, 2000, or 3000, their choice.

I had all the sellers line up along the back of the class, and the buyers went to them, so there wasn't too much commotion. (The market doesn't get up and move after all)
I as the teacher act as a bank. Halfway through the activity, (use your best judgment), I ring the bell and offer twice as much for one particular clothing item. (You need to prepare slips of paper or stamps or whatever to denote this). I did this at the end of one of the classes instead of the middle and it worked just as well if not better, with them all sitting back down.

IMPORTANT: Remind them not to get too loud.
PRACTICE the key phrases before sending them off ("Can I help you?" "I like this (red sweater)." "How much is it?" "It's _______ won." "Here you are.")

This activity required a minmum of 20 minutes to explain, play and wrap up.
I included my instructions in a different format as an attachment.

The kids really liked this game, so make sure devote ample time to playing it.

In case you are doing the phonics lesson here is a short game on the "short o vowel sound." I showed 5 words at a time, I did not read them because I wanted them to try to read the words by themselves. The students on their own had to tell me which word did not have the short o vowel sound and got a reward if they got it correctly. I only allowed 4 guesses because then they would obviously know which word didn't have it. (if you click on the text, it will show the correct answer)

I then read the 4 sentences one at a time (print the sentences ahead of time). I asked them to count how many words they would hear in each with the short o vowel sound. If they got it, they got a reward.

Attached is my powerpoint that I am using for Period 2 of this lesson.

It includes a little review of the first period.
I also included foreign currency from seven English speaking countries so that the kids could see foreign notes and see what they're called.

The second half the price is right game that I got off of here. I edited it slightly to include the key expressions for this period.

My class was cancelled today so I do not know how students will respond to this panoply of powerpoints that I combined and changed.  Anyway I created the game at the end: Guess the price.  It reviews vocab from last chapter and also helps the kids practice the key expression "I like this ___.  How much is it?"

I tried to use an actual clip of price is right and to let kids guess the price using marker boards.  I tried the actual clip for a little more reality instead of opting for the powerpoint version.  It was nothing short of a trainwreck/disaster.  I think the powerpoint is a better option.  I couldnt have been much worse.  These kids just didnt understand how to play the game. 

I'm very open to suggestions.  I take it very personally when I have a class not go well.

For period 4, I made a shopping activity. I cut out the won in the back of their books. I clipped 20,000 won together for each student. I made 2 sets of item cards for 6 different stores. I cut and laminated them. I had 6 students be the owners of each shop. The other students were the customers. They had to follow the dialogue to buy things.  I gave them 10 minutes to buy as much as they could. The person with the most cards won! My students got a big kick out of shopping.

This is a PPT slide of the code board for Read and Play.

I am planning on giving them a sheet of numbers for them to decode. I feel like having it up on a PPT will make it a bit more difficult.

I added a simple (nothing fancy) sheet of numbers for decoding.
