^ It's always nice to see people making stuff their own and adding changes. Thanks for this :)! I'm also glad you pointed out that English really isn't the main language in South Africa. That's a really good point and realize now I should have rephrased that part so say something like "Where is English a common first language?" instead of the main language.

I just did the lesson for the first time and found that the video guessing game doesn't work beacuse before the vidoe starts there is a label at the top. So "Scenes from Brazil" kind of gave away what country it was! So instead, I used pictures for the guessing game, followed by the videos. The class were so enjoying the guessing that they didn't even want to watch the videos! I just kept a point tally throughout the lesson, giving as I saw fit. So I have attached the new guessing game version. I also added more flags for them to guess.

Just wanted to say thanks for this, it was a great lesson! I made a couple changes, added some stuff and changed some of the pictures, its not much different but will post it here anyways in case anyone wants it (it uses up more time).

can I just say......

WOW!!!! Def one of my most enjoyable lessons so far. All the students were so engaged, even the ones who normally trying to get them to speak is like pulling teeth, were contributing and thinking about where they wanted to go in the world, which I loved, cuz Koreans do seem rather insular at times.... AND I even learned a bit myself! (all the different flags n all)

Didn't actually have time to play the game at the end as they were so busy discussing where they wanted to go, and the different flags etc but hey we'll do that next time!

So so so thankful :) first class!

I used the blockbusters game template from the mega pack (http://waygook.org/index.php/topic,1816.0.html) and made a game to go with this lesson. There are 2 rounds so its quite long, the first round tests the knowledge from the lesson while the second round is just general knowledge about geography and countries. I am using it to fill my full 45 minute lessons for next week. Enjoy!

I love this World Travel lesson. I have added a little update that some people might like. I found a 'world travel quiz' on Waygook and added it to the original lesson, so here is World Travel Version 2.0. It might be a little too long, so use your better judgement.

Edit: I decreased the font size for the game and used a number system instead of a world map.

Hey green floyd,
As this is your first time posting something, would you mind telling me how I might also upload some of the powerpoints I've made so that other people can use them. It's only right to give back to waygook:-)!
Cheers

Hey more porko,

To post just go to the section you want to post in, for example Middle School (High Beginner to Low Intermediate), then click "New Topic". Write whatever you like and scroll down, click "Additional Options" and then "Choose File" Under "Attach:"

Click post.

It's that easy!

This is amazing! Love the videos, thanks for posting this.
The Yakko's world song doesn't mention South Africa for some reason - or did I just miss it?
Anyway, will definitely use this next year!

This is another example, great creative ideas on world countries, I did a lesson this sort of theme but never thought i could make it this interesting for kids 14 years old. I will use this for my final 3 tomorrow should go out with a bang ;D

A good idea!  Canada is also officially a bilingual English/French country, so claiming English as THE main language is going to upset a few million people.  A main language is more accurate.  :)

I just have to say thanks.  I didn't do this lesson, I actually made an entirely different lesson, but it was inspired by this topic.

This is why waygook.org is so great... it gives us a lot of ideas to use for lessons.  I used this for high school, but i figured i might as well share it with the people who inspired me  :P
