I like the idea of using interesting or silly animals to give advice to, instead of other students (which might make them shy), so I'm going to borrow this idea for my two classes who are extra-far along in their book. I'm going to use it for the special lesson 'What Are Your Worries? : The Worry Tree" at the end of the Haas 2014 Middle School English 2 book.
Attached are the cards I made for animals - I would like students to do one animal each, and since I have about 26-30 students in each class, I've made a document with 36 animals (I'm going to let students choose their animals in a certain order, based on who's answered the questions up to that point, or maybe the winners of some other task I'll set. This way they won't be "stuck" with a certain animal they don't have ideas for).
When you print, it should be double-sided. Students survey their classmates and write their suggestions on the back. I plan to make them share the best advice at the end of class.
