(Judy Yin) Grade 3, Lesson 13 - "Happy Birthday!"
« on: October 17, 2011, 02:11:31 pm »
My preliminary contribution to this lesson. I haven't finished planning it, but here's some stuff. It's actually one of the few lessons that don't suck too much...

Here's a board game I created. I created it and I am making the most of it with all the grades. 1 time per grade different topics.  ;D

I hope you can use it.
I used some key sentences from previous lessons just as review, but it's mostly for this lesson.
I've attached the PDF for straight printing and the PPT for editing, you need the harry potter font to use the PPT.

Not really that educational but funny.

A cat singing "Happy Birthday" haha. Kids loved it, and it's very short.

Happy birthday bingo.

How to play:
Whoever is the caller (students, teacher, etc.) will say, "How old are you (insert character name, nuri, harry, etc)? Then a student is chosen to be that character and to say how old he or she is (by choosing an age on their sheet from the character's line.)
For example, if the student has 9,6,5,8,12 in the boxes next to Nuri's name he/she can say I'm (9,6,5,8,12) years old. They can only pick one age/box. I'm 9 years old in the "you" box. Bingo is one line across or down.
There are two sheets to play twice but I doubt anyone will need it, since one game takes a little over 10 mins.
Also attached is a powerpoint explaining how to play.

This is a game I made for period 1~

I have my class split into 7 groups already.
I had one student leave the room.
While they were outside, I assigned roles to the different groups.
3Groups were the Birthday Boys and Girls "Wow! Thank you!"
3Groups were just regular Boys and Girls "It's not my birthday."
1Group was The Cake. "I am the cake!!"

When the student came back in, he had to say "Happy Birthday! This is for you....." and choose one group. The groups would respond accordingly.
Bday groups = 1 point. Regular groups = 0 points. The Cake = -1 point.

The class really got into it! Just make sure they don't give away the answers  :P

I have a short PPT I used to explain it. Enjoy :cheesy:
