I've played this before with students in camp and after school classes. I ended up just calling the game "Liar" and had the students say 'Liar' when they suspected someone was lying about their cards. I asked the students to make full sentences: "I have (number of cards) (card name)". I also tried to get them to add the s if they were putting down multiple cards. ("I have one Ace" vs. "I have two Aces")
Going over the names of the face cards helped, otherwise they would just say the letter on the card.
Writing the card order on the board from Ace through King helped the students keep track better.
Checking to see if using playing cards in school first is probably a good idea.
I found out that my homeplus was the best place to get cheap playing card decks.
After they get the rules, students really enjoy playing and ask to play a lot.
