UNO cardgame for this lesson. I only have the place name on the card, but they have to say a sentence.
There is also a song on youtube : "Going to the zoo tomorrow"...I am going to use as motivation.

Here is a redo of the first posted ppt. I made it even more simple (for low level students) and I add an evolution game at the end. To play evolution, the students go through different stages. First, every students starts out as an ant, then they walk about around the class and find a friend and do the dialog. Then the pair of students do rock, paper, scissors. The winner gets to be a chicken and so on. When a students reaches pig stage, go and do the dialog with the teacher. If the student wins, get a sticker.

Happy teaching!

Here's a video that I'm going to use for my introductory lesson! It's catchy and I think the kids will enjoy it:)

the 'chant chant' section is especially lame this time, so i chose to use something more fun: 'Summer of '69' by Bryan Adams.

The first verse is packed with past tense stuff. Although it will be a little tough for lower-level kids, it's fine for the higher-level kids and the kids who wanna try to rise to the challenge.

here are the lyrics (attached)
and they are also included on this YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eCzSA-1_lg

This is a ppt to review the key expressions and a worksheet (at the end) to play tic-tac-toe. I know the books says to use the flashcards but that takes too long and you might want to use the flashcards for something else.

Happy Teaching!

Yesterday by the Beatles, with lyrics.  Not an easy song for them, but it at least uses simple past and some vocabulary!

Here is a really cool "Fruit Ninja" bomb-game.  I found the template a while back and have decided to use it finally.  It plays the same way as the newer "Angry Birds" bomb game, where you drag and drop to keep score for each team.

I've included some translation, role playing, and writing activity slides to spice up the regular picture>target sentence routine.

I'm really looking forward to trying this out with my classes and I hope it can be useful to some teachers out there!

[DAEJEON EDIT] Read the first slide on how to change PowerPoint settings in order for the game to function correctly.

Hi;

Just wondering if anyone else is having trouble with the Fruit Ninja game?  I can't click the checkmark when the answer is correct.  Is anyone else having this problem?

KCan04, with regards to the Fruit Ninja game and the green tick not being linked to the scoreboard... go back to the 1st slide of instructions and you will see you need to enable various settings to get it to work.  Might be difficult if your computer is in Korean and you can't read it, but that will be why it is not working for you!

There were some errors in the Mario game. The answer was set to pop up before the clue. I fixed everything to the best of my knowledge. Thanks to the original maker, and thanks to creator of the template, of course!

As a side not: I noticed the question boxes are linked up to only "bombs" and stars. I'm afraid the kids will catch on (I don't think they care as they love the "bombs" but it takes away from the element of surprise)Does anyone know  the method of linking slides? I'd like to try my hand at changing the outcomes for the question boxes. However my PPT skills are fledgling at best.

Could you explain how you play the UNO game - and is it one set of cards per pair of students? Thank you.

Here's a dictation worksheet for period 2.  They need to listen, and fill in the blank.

I use one set per 5 or 6 students. Each get 5 cards....rest of the cards in the midddle of the table. Take one card and put with face up next to it..LOL  Now first player should match the color or the picture to that one card...and say the word or sentence...put the card on top of that one...next student then match color or picture.
If you can't match the card you have to take a card from the stack in the middle of the table.  First student with no cards is winner. Somewhere on Waygook is a ppt explaing how to play UNO.
Reverse-change direction of players....any color - change color..take 2 - take two cards from the stack. Skip- skip next player.
