I can't find the thread for this, but here's a Snakes & Ladders game reviewing the key expressions.

Here are some things that I borrowed from a similar lesson in another textbook on another thread and I just modified it to fit my needs.  Thank you to those that did the templates, you came to my rescue in a pinch.

A quick note on the word search.  I accidentally left in a word from the previous template.  When one of my smarter students had finished well ahead of time I told her there was a bonus word in the puzzle that she could try to find.  I told her it was part of the song we had just watched (Busy Beavers It's Rainy).  It took her the remaining 10 mins to try to find the bonus word.  Next time I do a crossword I am going to add in a couple of extra vocabulary words for the quicker students to find.

For the Boggle game I pretty much used the same letters and template that was given in another thread.  Since they are 3rd graders, I told them the letters did not have to be connected.  I gave 2 points for each vocabulary word they found and 1 point for each correct word they found.

I hope these are useful.

just a ppt i got on here for practice, then used those pictures for a simple board game.  3rd graders love to play rock, paper, scissors so they played for a solid 10-15 minutes.  played the ice climbing video at the end of class to get them to stop playing the game.

Here is a modified Angry Birds game for this lesson. It went over really well. There are a couple slides where the students have to come up to the board and practice writing capital letters.
Thanks to whomever made the original game, it is amazing.

Here are some things I used this lesson -

We did a "It's Sunny" Story that was pretty fun/funny.  I am also attaching the "Post Story" ppt (called post listening).  Just review of the expressions, etc.

And finally, a Mario weather game!

Here is a worksheet that I gave out during this chapter.  It has a "practice writing the alphabet" section, an alphabet word search, an alphabet connect the dots, and a word search with these words:  doll, cup, dad, mom, I, pen, book, you.

Here is a Hidden Picture game that I adapted for the first period of this unit (original template previously downloaded from Waygook - thank you for doing the legwork!).

I also found the link for the Busy Beavers "It's Rainy" song previously mentioned in this post:

Here is a video I made for an English teacher on my team's 3rd grade open class.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDNra3PsBUg
The students watch the news anchor ask the weather reporter about the weather.  She answers.  Some of her answers are wrong.  Students have 3 seconds to respond if it is right or wrong.
The answers are at the end of the video

Here's a guessing game where the students guess what the weather is like in various cities around the world. They guess whether it is hot or cold, and how it looks ouside (sunny, cloudy, snowing, etc). I've embedded live webpages for both the city's weather and a live webcam to show the weather conditions in that city.

You will need this plug-in in order for the live webpages to work properly:

http://skp.mvps.org/liveweb.htm

I've included instructions at the end of the PPT on how to install this plug-in and how to enable macros and ActiveX so that the presentation works properly.

If you have any questions or problems, please let me know.

Hope you find it useful!

I made a Halloween game for next week's chapter. This is the SAFE Halloween template for little kids. Not to be confused with the much scarier one used for grade 6.

I used images and extra vocabulary from a powerpoint I did on the weather. It can be downloaded (along with a lot of other weather related materials) at this thread:

Because there isn't one yet, here's a really basic intro ppt based entirely on the textbook.  Nice and simple.

Here is the real show time script for unit 13. The previous poster uploaded the show time ppt for unit 12.  Two scripts per page for less printing. Great for role play presentations.

Made a Silly Bulls game for this lesson. I am going to use it for writing much in the way I normally do with Telepathy or Sleeping Elephants for older students.

A short, simple Prezi for introducing new vocabulary. Feel free to make a copy and fix it up however you like ^^

So I downloaded the Mario bomb game edit, and was wondering if anyone else had trouble with it? Some of the slides return you to the screen and replace all of the buttons that were used instead of having the last used button disappear. I'm not very good with ppt, so if anyone has a clue how to fix that, could you let me know? Thanks.

Really short review and a what's missing game. Thunderbolt at the bottom right takes you to the points page.
Thanks to original posters.
