Christmas and Thanksgiving Movies with Korean Subtitles
« on: November 16, 2011, 02:58:31 pm »
Hi Everyone

I am really trying to find some Christmas and Thanksgiving movies.  I teach middle school and they just like watching videos.  My co teacher does not play any and the ones I do they enjoy because it is a break from studying.  I have tried to find some movies on the search menu but I have not succeeded.  Does anybody have any links to the Charlie Brown movies (Any holiday), How the grinch stole christmas (1966), or any other movies that are cartoons with singing involved.  Thank you so much in advance!!!!

Hello  Abbyite!
Here is a website that has every single Simpsons episode that can be easily downloaded or embedded. http://zsimpsons.com/the-simpsons-se02-ep07-bart-vs-thanksgiving/
I am going to show my middle schoolers Episode 7 Season 2, Bart vs. Thanksgiving. I wish they had Korean Subtitles, but they don't. If you search on Naver.com there are quite a few cartoons that have korean subtitles.
Also, Ted.com has hundreds of great lectures with Korean Subtitles that are interesting and mind-blowing enough to keep students interested.

  Hope this helps!

For Korean subtitles, try these sites:

http://gom.gomtv.com/jmdb/index.html

http://cineast.co.kr/bbs/board.php?bo_table=psd_caption

The first has many subtitles in Korean for the Simpsons. The second has many movie titles and also some TV subs. Unfortunately, I was able to get Korean subtitles for the Charlie Brown episode BUT you can get them in English.

As for downloading, I torrent. I usually have to do this at home though, since the school blocks most sites. Luckily, you can find the Simpsons episode for download (without being blocked) here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?d0jprdaawdhipkx

And Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving episode here:

If you are using GOM player, you can adjust the subtitle time if the subs don't quite match up. Hope that helps!

Where does one go in Seoul to just BUY movies?  My local emart has a pretty limited selection, any other ideas?

I'd pay a few thousand won to get a copy of some Christmas movies in English with easy to access Korean subs.  Trying to get subtitles from GOM to match up with a movie downloaded elsewhere is a nightmare in my experience.

Have you tried just changing the timing on the subtitles? You can just hit < or > to set the subtitles time. It works really well! If you do that, you only have to download subtitles once and not worry that the movie was downloaded elsewhere.

Trust me, I tried it with Elf last year--downloaded the English movie from one place and got Korean subtitles from another.  They never synched properly.

Anyway, no ideas on where to just buy English movies (that will probs come with Korean subtitles) in Seoul?  Anyone?

You could always search for movies on gmarket.com.  I bought The Princess Bride, Dead Poets Society and Elf last year.  It is a great gift to give to your English teachers too!  And of course they all have Korean subtitles!

May the season of giving begin!

In order for your files to sync up you have to find a subtitle file with the same name as your movie file. For example, if you downloaded "elf..XVID...HD-DVDrip" you can probably easily find a subtitle file titled "elf... XVID...HD-DVDrip" and they should match perfectly. If something doesn't match, keep looking for different files, and something will work eventually. I can always find the right file by the second try.

Here is a link for the Korean subtitles for Elf.  Download the movie separately, I use thepiratebay.org.  It synced perfectly.
