Superheroes Activities Class
« on: December 23, 2011, 05:29:11 PM »
This is the last class I will create for my middle school students, excluding the forthcoming winter camp.

It includes some of the usual elements you expect from a superhero lesson; character creation and a comic book exercise, etc. I did however, put a special amount of effort into the superhero situation game that should take up the majority of the lesson. Students will be presented with 10 situations in which they must choose the most honorable or effective course of action. Some of the scenarios may require some co-teacher assistance for the lower levels especially.

There is possibly a little more material than is required to fill a 45 minute class but I always feel it is better to go over time rather than under.

I really hope you guys find this lesson of use.

Nollaig shona duit and a happy new year!

Used this today for grades 2 & 3.. seems to be going over quite well! The lower levels need a lot of help though.

I really like this idea, but for lower levels definitely co-teacher will be needed. Im going to try and use this on my grade 3 lowest level class. They're all a bunch of characters so im curious to see what superpowers they come up with.

Thanks for posting! its a great lesson

I am going to use this one for winter camp! I edited it to make it more gender neutral and tossed in some of my favourite superheros too (Ironman and Silver Surfer), plus some animation characters that the Korean students can relate to (Sailor Moon, Charizard, and Gohan). I'm teaching in an all girls' middle school so they would definitely like this activity! Thanks so much eh :)

I just stumbled upon this as I was making my own lesson on superheroes! I was looking for an extra activity and that game at the end looks perfect. The template for making your own superhero/super villain is great too! Thanks for this.

I made some changes to the PPT to fit my own teaching style. I also added the concept of an "origin story" into the PPT as well. I included some notes in the PPT to assist with discussion. I changed the worksheet a bit, and removed the watching of the video, as I don't think we'll have time for everything. I also crafted a lesson plan as well. Thanks to Jugazza for the inspiration and the excellent superhero game!
