Movie recommendations?
« on: February 02, 2012, 01:22:23 PM »
I'm looking for  decent movie to tide us through the next week. We're watching Alvin and the Chipmunks dvd this week. I think it's about an hour and a half so we'll use it for two classes. I'd love to find something similar if there's any recommendation? I imagine I'll make up a worksheet and an activity for it.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.   ;D

My students really like "How To Train Your Dragon" - I had a ton of students ask me to send them a copy after class!

On Vimeo there I found Kung Fu Panda 1.5. Its only about 25 minutes long but its a good time filler with Korean subs. None of my students had even heard about it before so that is also a major plus.
Here is the link. ;D

I showed 'Karate kid' to my students. They really loved it. The story is really touched.

How to Train Your Dragon was not only entertaining for the students but it also tied well into a lesson I made for training animals in general.  After teh movie, students got in small groups and a "how to" about how they would train any animal to do any thing :)

good luck :)

I watched Mulan last night and I thought it would be an awesome movie to show to my elementary schoolers...

If only they'd let me.

I think it would depend on the age of your students. I let my grade 3's and 4's watch "Up" and they LOVED it. They were glued to the screen  :)

I think all the above suggestions are great.  From those already suggested, I have shown Up and Megamind.   They were both well received.

I think it is hard to miss with any major pixar animated movie.

Stuart Little was a hit w/ my students. This was my 4th graders, I don't know if older students would like this movie.
