This is so they won't forget "Are you sure?" easily.  :)

Menu Partner Activity - Lesson 3 Period 1

http://joeys.ca/images/Kids/images/2010kidsmenuweb.jpg

I printed this menu out so that each group of two would have one.

As the menu asks, I'm going to have the kids pick one entree, side dish, drink and dessert.
They have to take turns being the waiter and ask "What will you have?", then the customer answering.

When they are finished they are to come up to my co-teacher and I and 'put in the orders' by telling us "She/He will have ... blahblahblah."

I am trying this out tomorrow but I'm pretty sure the kids will love it!

I made two powerpoints for this lesson.

The first is a 'What will you have?' review for Lesson 3 Part 1.

The second ppt is one that I got elsewhere on waygook and edited for this specific lesson (Lesson 3 Part 2).
It covers the new material, reviews Part 1 and the last chapters.

Enjoy!

:o :o :o Thanks very much! The PPT is very good and the game is excellent. My quick edit had too many repeated answers so my students didn't like it. Thanks it's really good!

Thanks, Step!

Also, there is a 'Where are you from?' slide in the game powerpoint that worked really well in class. The answer was 'I'm from the U.K'. I explained to the kids the difference between England and the United Kingdom. I didn't go into it during the first lesson and I'm glad I got to. It blew their minds that they didn't have a word for it in Korean for it and that all this time they thought the whole country was England.

@achin87 - Ya I'm having the same problem. I just click on the monsters and they disappear, I don't know how to get to the questions themselves...

Same problem here too. Which is a shame because it is such a cute looking game.

I made the game in Visual Basic.  So you will either need to set powerpoint access to VBA modules in PowerPoint trust center, or save the file as .PPTM

Here's a worksheet for lesson 3-2.

** Listen and repeat 2 was wrong. I've corrected it.

Did anyone get to section two of this lesson? Lmao, Chris really needs a mentor. Somebody tell that boy what NOT to say to your girlfriend, lol.

Oh god, now I realize that "Are you sure? That's a lot!" is part of the vocab for this section. If that's a normal thing to say in K culture, no wonder I see so many Korean girls with Western guys! ;)

Please enable active x controls when you open the little monsters game. Just choose the 2nd option (the non-default or bottom option) then they will work.

I really recommend kitkatnat game based on the donut game- 6.3.2. It is much better than my monsters game!

I don't use the bomb game much so didn't see the syntax error. Here's sections 1,2,3 in Pororo, MmmDonuts, and Angry Bird format.

Bomb game should work fine.

My class is low level so I put, for example: "I want chicken" instead of "I want some chicken". I'll probably introduce "some vs. a" next week.

adapted a musical chairs-esque game i found here on the 5th grade thread.  first i went over countable/uncountable foods.  this game has been fun for both 5th and 6th grade..i plan to use it as often as possible for the reading sections of the lessons!  gotta cut out/laminate some paper, but it'll be worth your time.

Attached is the pictures and sentences I used to print out for the Speed Game for this lesson. I'm using it for my 5th period of Lesson 3. Enjoy

Rules:
Speed Game:
There are a million variations on this one every one of which is sure to get the least enthusiastic class going. Essentially, it involes printing or writing everything from simple vocab to full questions and answers to pictures that elicit either of the two. They are taped up on the wall in a horseshoe pattern keeping as much distance between them as possible. After a review of the target language split the class in two and have them line up at the tips of the horseshoe. One student at a time must read through the target language walking towards the student on the other team page by page. Whe they meet they rock, paper scissors it out. The winner continues while the loser must go to the back of their teams line. Immediatly, the next person in line on the losing team starts. When ever a player makes it to the other side of the horseshoe without losing a rps game, their team earns a point. Play until they get bored.
