For 6.1, I think I'm going to play a variation of the Secret Numbers game, found here: http://waygook.org/index.php/topic,4496.0.html

The rules for this game are simple - show the first slide of the attached PPT, which has random single vocabulary words, enough so that each student has their own (I have 25 on the slide). After reviewing all the words, a student comes up one at a time and you tell them their "secret word". They recite it twice to the class, and then go sit down. Repeat for all students.

Then students get into two teams, and then switch to the third slide, where the words are rearranged (you can skip this is if it's too difficult for your levels). Then one student from each team has a turn, and says one of the vocab words. If a student on Team 1 says a vocab word that was assigned to someone on their team, that player (who was assigned the spoken word) walks over to the other team. If the student says the vocab of someone on Team 2, that player comes over from Team 2 to Team 1. Very simple. The team with the most students, or when the words have been said enough times, wins. I may cross out words once they've been used too many times.

Intro PPT going over the key sentences - "I/you/he/she/we/they want(s) to..." and "I/you/he/she/we/they don't/doesn't want to..."

I have also attached the reading and writing worksheets that are available on the website.
Sheep, like all wool-bearing animals, instinctively travel north, where it's colder, and they won't be so stuffy.

I made this for the write and play on page 69. I turned it into a more individual activity. Where students can select a number and write the sentence that matches the picture. If they are correct then they can color the stars on their worksheet. The person with the most stars wins. OR you can put them into groups and they are going against other groups. Either way I think would work, but I have not used it yet. Hope It works well!

Here is a "What's Missing?" game that I made.  I'm teaching it tomorrow, so haven't decided how I'm going to work it out, but I will most likely show the "missing" slide and whoever has their hand up to answer, can answer with their group (there are 6 groups in my classroom).  There are images for "I want to...," "We want to...," and "They want to..."  I also have images for "don't want to."

I forgot, I also made a Speed Quiz game.  There are 6 groups in my classroom, as I said above.  Each group will choose one person to stand at the back of the room (so they can see the TV screen) and the rest of the group will stand at the front of the classroom where they cannot see the screen.  The person at the back will have to act out the actions on the board.  You can give a time limit, but the timer doesn't seem to be working on my end anymore, not sure what happened.  You can get the stopwatch from the internet.  I will be giving a point to each action the group guesses correctly in their time period.

I made a steal a student game for the second part of this lesson. Thanks to whoever had the original idea.

This practices "I want to .." "That sounds good" and "I don't want to".

I am playing it next week so hopefully it works ok.

worksheet for lesson 6-1

I'm going to use the cards on page 199 for a game. It's an opportunity for the kids to practice the question, positive and negative forms.

- Play the game in pairs
- Each kid uses their own set of cards
- A places four of their cards face up and four of them face down.
- They pick up one of the face down cards, making sure B doesn't see which one it is.
- B needs to guess which card A has picked up. If they guess on the first go they get 3 points, second go 2 points and third go 1 point.
- Change roles.
- Play as many rounds as you think best.

Greets!

As part of my open class for Unit 6 part 2, I've adapted this pretty cool guessing game.  There are images of the action word vocabulary buried under another picture. Quadrants of the top picture disappear for a split second when you click them. Ss must guess the activity and make the correct sentence using the text prompts, ie: I want to sing. or, I don't want to clean the floors. I'll use it as a 5 minute review at the end of the period.

Here's some stuff for the story time section. In my second period, I will re-read the story, watch the etiquette video on the CD, then do the table manners ppt before playing the doraemon game.
