I thought I could be the first to start the thread :D.     I had a lot of extra time during February so I made a few Powerpoints ahead of time.

The first is a Simpsons-themed introductory lessons that reviews rountines, interests, and targeted expressions from the book.
I'm not sure how to incorporate PPT games yet into the curiculum as I believe that teachers tend to rely to much on games for students to learn.

I used a program called AUTHORSTREAM that allows you to insert ebbed Youtube URLs into your PPTs that allow you to play Youtube videos straight from your PowerPoint presentation.   No more awkward shuffling between IE and Powerpoint.
In order for the PowerPoints to work directly( to play the videos that are relevant to the lesson material) you must download the free software.  There is no spyware or malware included.

You might to update your Microsoft Office .NET Framework and if you do AUTHORSTREAM will prompt you to install the network update from Microsoft servers.     You have to update your classroom computer and your office computer for it to work.   IT'S WORTH IT!   Directly linking to Youtube videos saves plenty of room on USB drives and looks professional.

I took i_am_a_toaster's ppt and modified it to work for ppt instead of pptx and took out all the videos. My school computers will crash at just the mention of a you tube video.  Then I'm gonna play a disappearing dialogue game and use Barryfunenglish's scoreboard with spin wheel (http://www.barryfunenglish.com/tools.php) for points to make it more game like.  My kids LOVE that thing for some reason.

Thanks so much to i_am_a_toaster for the original power point and for starting this thread!

Another one for intro....taken from last years book (L13) of a similar subject.

As for other ideas.....maybe a simple one about your own family with pics and what they like to do etc.

This is an intro ppt that I made for the first period.  It focuses on "Let me introduce my friend to you. This is ____.  He/She loves ____."

It uses a lot of animated gifs and includes Park Ji-Sung, Lady Gaga, Kim Yuna, Justin Bieber, and a really cute cat.  There is some disappearing dialogue at the end.  It's for my lower level school, so it's not really complicated. My main hope is that the moving picture will get the students looking at the TV long enough to learn something.  I haven't taught it yet so we'll see what happens.

 :)   Hello Everyone,

My co-teacher wanted me to create an interesting ppt review that wasn't a bomb game and was graphic intensive to capture our students' interest so I used the Pokemon game template from Kyle Ludeke (fellow waygooker), deleted the hyperlinks to pokemon, the scoreboard, and was left is a slick looking Pokemon-themed ppt.

It is filled with a lot of internet meme references and interesting gifs to make class educational and 재미.  It took awhile to find the appropriate photos and assemble the PowerPoint so I hope you guys enjoy! ;D

Here's a simple idea for a writing/ warm-up activity.

Have students draw someone to introduce (it can be a fictional character or a real person). Have them write 10 phrases  to describe this person. i.e. likes soccer, teaches English, loves singing, has blonde hair, etc.

When finished have students volunteer. They students can re-create their character using this site http://www.charactercreator.net/mii-charaacter-creator.html
They can read or re-write the 10 words as well.

This site also works well, but gives you less detail in the character itself: http://teacher.scholastic.com/activities/scrapbook/

If you have issues with classroom management, you could also change the activity so that the teacher created the character and the students described it.

I use a variation of this game for any lesson involving a lot of verbs or things that can be mimed.  I make it a speed test to see which group can finish fastest.

Some students form a line at the front of the class.

The first student should speak to the class saying, “Let me introduce my friend.  He loves to ….” The second student must then do the action the first student says and introduce the next student with a new action.

Change the dialog to fit your lesson/book/level...  Class asks the teacher "What's he doing?"  The teacher points at the first student and says "He's eating".  Class asks the first student..."What's he doing?"

use this PPT at the end of the lesson for some fu !

- choose one student at a time randomly, and explain that they have to introduce who ever is on the slide... its pretty straghtforward and covers some of the main language
