Vocab and role play. I created the role play and I have added a few word to the vocab. The Role play is with Harry Potter, "Where is Hogsmeade?". Enjoy! I will add a version with Korean translation of the scene/setting directions as soon as my CT finishes it.

This is a link
to an interactive whiteboard (browser) app to make your own cartoonish maps. I have used it in the past for similar lessons for a variety of activities.
This year, I plan to use it during the first period for listening comprehension. I will pre-build a map with a school as a starting point and two roads intersecting (to practice 'left' and 'right'). After doing the textbook activities I will choose one student at a time to come up to the screen and place a particular building on the map, according to the directions I give.
I have attached an example of the map I will pre-build for the listening activity.

Find it Fast: I have added 5 sets of directions to the side of a map I found last year. I will time 1 student from each team to see who is the fastest at finding the destination. Students on the same team should help each other. Have fun.

Board game and PPT vocab and directions review.
Board game is of my design...sort of. I copied the concept from the board game sorry. If you're not familiar with the Sorry! board game, just msg me and I'll give the instructions. I added the points so they could have a winner even if no one finishes. Just change the school name on the board game name text box, I doubt you want my school name on yours...

Here is a follow directions activity. It's pretty self explanatory. I created a powerpoint that has directions for student's to follow. The student's have a generic neighborhood map that looks for like a grid, but they follow the directions and draw pictures on certain blocks. The purpose of this activity is to practice the go straight, turn left, and turn right vocab. You can modify it anyway you like.
Also, I only have them draw 8 pictures because I will have only about 15 minutes to do the activity. If time permits, I will let the student's draw more pictures.

Here's an unscramble ppt game with Lesson 3 vocab. There are many ways you can play this. For example, have students work with a partner and write the words on a piece of paper or whiteboard, have student's just say the answers, have student's call out the answer and make a sentence with each word, etc. You can take your pick!
I used this with my 6th grade and they loved it! However, I am not the original person who made the template. But thanks to the originator!

Well, we're flip-flopping lessons 3 and 4, due to an upcoming Open Class. However, I got this little Chase the Vocab done before I was notified, so I'll add this for the moment, until I have time to add other materials. Although, I think there are probably a lot of good materials already listed, perhaps under the original curriculum, that could easily be adapted.
Anyway, I just run through the key vocab, then play, it's fairly self-explanatory. Oh! Except for the first picture - I just want the key expression for that. So, with my kids, I'll probably just have them say "Where is the" or "Where is the mo-mo," just to emphasize the key part "where is." But whatever suits your kids best.~ *^^*
Cheers~

Compared with what previous years taught, the expectations for this unit are wayyyy too easy. Since they learned prepositions in grade 4, I'll review them next week and start making things more complicated. (ie 'Turn left at apple street, it's next to the supermarket.') But for the first class, I'll just stick with what's expected.
First PPT - I'm going to start with the basics - turn left, right, go straight. Then introduce different kinds of places/stores. Next review them with images that will be on a map later. Then a card snatch game to practice listening. (note - I use numbered cards which I keep and reuse all the time.)
[Also at the end of that ppt are slides for printing (including street signs). If I have time at the end of class I'll have some students stand in the aisles among the desks with place signs or street signs and have students answer how to get to them using this lesson's dialog.]
Second PPT - a matching game to practice saying turn left, right, go straight, and the name of some places and a street.
Last PPT - a straightforward (I hope) explanation of how to describe where things are, using images of places they've already seen throughout the lesson. ("Where is the school? Go straight. Turn right. It's on Apple street.") The last two slides are of the two maps. If there's time I'll have them ask each other in groups where something is and they can practice giving directions, perhaps by coming up in threes and drawing on the map on the smartboard/TV and saying one sentence each.
Hope they're helpful.

Here are a couple of gap-fill worksheets I found on BogglesWorldESL.com and modified. Also a PowerPoint with a bunch of games that I found in another thread from the previous textbook. Thanks to the original uploader!

I used this story from the British Council Learn English website to create this ppt. I created my own questions at the end to recap the story and some words. Feel free to edit it.
http://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/en/
I have also included a printable handout to go along with the story. I used these for part of a lesson originally designed for a Winter Camp.
The "print screen" button on your keyboard captures a screen image that you can paste in word and then edit to create a ppt like this. This is what I have done for numerous stories for lessons that have always gone over well with my students. You can also try adding .wav music files to the ppt for extra effect.

Grade 5 Cheonjae 천재 book 1 Frances Sohn-Lesson 3 - Where is the Ice Cream Store?
I found this song by They might be giants called - Figure 8, The Chorus contains the directions Turn left, turn right, go straight.
Here is the You Tube link.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMebRvE9oH0
My Students love real music rather than any songs from the book, which they feel are childish, so i always try to find something relevant to begin the lesson and motivate them.

Intro power point introducing vocab and grammar points. For the "it's on ______ street" grammar, I plan to just write that on the board and have the class fill in the blank with each practice slide. Hope this helps!
