Grade 1 Lesson 12 - Seven Wonders of the World
« on: December 03, 2010, 08:08:27 am »
Here's a lesson I came up with for my textbook's chapter 12, 'Seven Wonders of the World.' The key phrases are 'What do you think of...?' and 'I think it's...' For this lesson, I first showed the kids a time lapse video of aurora borealis ( http://www.youtube.com/v/FcfWsj9OnsI&rel;=1) and asked them to tell me what they saw. Then I went into the PPT with a discussion on what a 'wonder' is, and an explanation of the seven wonders of the ancient and modern world. In the PPT I've attached there are actually two versions of the presentation I used - one goes more in-depth into the wonders of the ancient world, which is good for particularly inquisitive classes, but I found that the kids were more interested in the wonders of the modern world :) Then, after presenting the key expressions we did two book exercises and then the classmate interview. Overall, a pretty successful lesson :)
