Hey guys, I came up with a relay race for the "That's not right" section.

Print out enough of the pictures so that every desk has one.  Everyone in the front row has the same picture, everyone in the second row has the same picture, etc.  Each row of desks is a team.  Give each row a piece of paper and have them write a dialog using the picture they have.  When they finish, they have to pass it to the row behind them, etc., until the last row finishes and then runs the paper up to the front.  Whoever brings their paper to the front first wins, but all of the dialogs have to be correct for them to win.

It can be repeated by having the students change the pictures.

So for example, the first picture dialog would be:
"Obama eats french fries."
That's not right.
He eats a sandwich."

Attached are the pictures I made.  Just print out a few copies of them and cut them up.

I only focused on the expression "what does that mean" and changed the slides on a ppt game from somebody else (I use a mac and the windows ppt version I have is in korean ㅠ.ㅠ)

1. Go through English Idiom - What does that mean ppt. There's a matching worksheet for the students
2. Lucky Wheel Game
3. The list of idiom is for getting the students into pairs and they have to act out the idioms together

This is alot for one class so you can pick and choose, add and edit.

I just had an open class that no one warned me about on this unit, so I'm glad I had good stuff prepared!
("surprise" is easily my favourite kind of open class  :o)

The powerpoint introduces the meanings of 9 different idioms. I stole some of the slides and general style from a poster on here, and then added to it. warning! if you use this you need to change slides 43-47, unless you want to teach your kids about my taste in music! ;)

activities:
1 an introductory gap-fill to accompany the talking heads' psycho killer


2 an idiom dictionary, the students should write the meanings in a way that they will remember

3  At the end the students have to work in groups to make a skit showing the meanings of some of the idioms they've learned. I show them this video (you can turn on closed captioning to make it easier for them) as an example.
 

4 I seem not to have saved it anywhere, but for homework I gave them a wordsearch using the idioms we'd learned, which I made on MESenglish.com - super easy to do.

I've also included the lesson plan I did up on the school's template because it was an open class. enjoy!

Thanks for the words. Just to let you know, at least for the HWP file, the word "Heroes" is spelled wrong in the title, for anyone who downloads it

Once again, thanks to waygook user "boll" for the amazing materials. Posted below is pretty much taken from boll with the exception of a few adjustments and the addition of a "two truths and a lie" game that I added at the end.

This lesson's focus is "I'm sorry, but that's not right."

"polite corrections" lesson ~ for the activity you'll need snakes and ladders boards and pieces but I almost never actually got to that part of the lesson frankly.  Just jetting them to write and practice their own dialogs is often enough of a chore lol.
