Here is a game for It's not fair.

I taught "I never" as well. The students have to use the picture to choose between "I always" and "I never" and then create a sentence. Some of the pictures you might have to help them with such as blame and beat up.

Hey here's a PP for directions. It's taken from a few different PPs already on this site (sorry I can't credit names).
I pick a student from each team to act out the charades in front of their other team mates.
For the last game I blindfold one student at a time from each team and they have to follow their team-mates directions to dodge the bombs and get the reward (candy).
I use the online timer from here.  http://www.online-stopwatch.com/

*Important to focus on 'the different of 'Turn left' and "It's on your left'. They get confused with this. I just acted it out a couple of times.

Here's a basic handout and two worksheets to go along with this chapter. I didn't have a chance to do the worksheets with the kids but most of them seemed to be getting the hang of this chapter, so I don't expect them to have too much trouble.

Jaysoon- Thanks for the zombie game. The kids liked it as it was a fun way to practice what they learned. I just did it with the whole class together.

EDIT: Some kids had some confusion around what the front of the park was and what the front of the aquarium was. The entrances are both on Oak street. Also, there's a mistake with the 2nd and 3rd question on the right column of the second worksheet. The 2nd question doesn't specify how many blocks to go, and there's two stores across from the hospital in the 3rd question arrrgh. Modify accordingly to where you want the locations to be...feeling a bit too tired right now to change  it

Hi everyone!

My school has started being very student-centered in our classes, so we develop worksheets to give the students activities for most of the class.  Then we walk around and help the groups, so there's not a lot of presentation.  Here's a directions lesson I did for this chapter and it went really well.

The first week we did the listen in/speak out with the CD in the book and learned some vocabulary for directions.  They sort of struggled.  In week 2, we quickly reviewed with this powerpoint and then the students worked on this worksheet.  I made a laminated copy of just the map to give to each pair and I projected the map on the screen in front of class.  Then we walked around and helped them.  In the last 5 minutes, I let students read their scavenger hunt and other students tried to guess where the treasure was.  I gave candy to the students who read and the students who guessed correctly. :)  Students did really well with it.  Good luck!

Here is a prezi I used for the first time today. It covers the phrase "it's not fair". It's still a work in progress, but I thought you guys might like to look at it. I am still trying to come up with a game to go along with the material. If you have some suggestions, let me know, or add it to the prezi and link it back to the forum. Also, I would love to hear you critiques. I am new to all this so I am trying to hone my skills.

Speak Out Part #1 and #2
It's not fair
How can I get there?

Here are the prezi's for the lessons
http://prezi.com/tzcuipff9wdy/2nd-grade-lesson-8-part-1/
http://prezi.com/ikmxznzpqj7u/2nd-grade-lesson-8-part-2/

Part #2 has a worksheet with a crossword puzzle. (See attachment)

PS. Part#2 prezi has writing exercises for the NEAT writing part. These are based on my school, so, either skip over them, or use them in your class too, up to you. I give the kids only five minutes to write.

I wanted to thank you for your Zombie Adventure game...my students LOVED it! They were so stressed out after each click of the button. Well done! I would love to see other activities that you've made, I'm really impressed!

updated worksheet for directions
information gap:
One student gets worksheet A and the other B
ask for directions and then fill the names of the places in on the map.

word search has a hidden sentence
"Excuse me, is there a mini stop near here?"

install the ttf file first to get the correct font.

I made a powerpoint to go along with some worksheets on the bogglesworld website. The full page map is very clear for low level students. (Worksheet titled "Downtown Map")

Here's a link to the bogglesworld site I used to pull materials: http://bogglesworldesl.com/directions.htm

I basically enlarged all of the images from the restaurant guide worksheet that corresponds to the downtown map page and made them into individual slides with questions.

The Partner A and Partner B activity sheets were far above my students' level, so I did not incorporate any of that material into the lesson.

The corner view of an intersection looking down two streets is the map from the "Giving Directions Pair" worksheet. I'm using that to step up the level a bit for my medium class.

I included a link to a strange, psychedelic Sesame Street video about going past things.
Just trying to grab students' attention. ^^

hey,

the map and worksheet are great! I'm going to use them for my class. Thanks for uploading.
However.... the korean translations are REALLY weird and awkward. If you can, please ask a Korean teacher to check them for you. I changed mine to the following:

Excuse me      실례합니다.
Is there a flower shop near here?
이 근처에 꽃집이 있어요?
How can I get there?
어떻게 가요?
How do I get there?
어떻게 가요?
Go straight      직진
Turn right/left 오른쪽/왼쪽 으로 가요
ItÂ’s on your right/left
오른쪽/왼쪽에 있습니다
On the corner   모퉁이에서

Hello,

thank you.
Yeah, my Korean teachers are "busy" all the time, so if I want a translation, I either have to find it in the teachers book, or rely on Google translate.
Anyway, thanks for letting me know.

Here's a review game for the lesson - thanks to the op for the template.

(Just save the sound files into the same folder as the game and all should work well. At my second school there's no working sound in the English room, but the lesson was still fun.)
