lesson for part 1 of the speak out section. Covers basic phrases, worksheet and a 5/10 minute time killer game at then end. Hope it helps someone! Haven't tried it out yet, let me know how it goes :) it is a mixture of other people's ideas/games so thanks to you all!

I just wanted to throw this link out there.

I found this while searching for choose your own adventure-style videos for the advice part of this lesson ("I think you should..."). They seem really good. They're 2-3 minute videos and you can choose at the end of them what you want to do (and they link to the appropriate video). I think there are about 4-5 videos in each story, so it'll take a good 20-30 minutes if you do the whole thing, but you can always just cut it off at the end of the lesson.

I'm going to start with the lame CD Rom Listen In/Speak out and they can practice the phrase a bit. Then we will watch each video. Each group will have to give advice to the people on screen. We can choose as a class by voting or good ol' rock, paper, scissors. I hope it helps some people. Let me know how it works. ^_^

Oh man that video thing is really cool...

For the first speaking section - "I think you should..."

Here's mine...presentation, worksheet and a game.

The game is just scattegories, give each team a whiteboard (or whatever) and they all give advice. Each one has to be different from all the others and has to be good advice. I give an extra point to my favourite piece of advice.

Part B Game 4X4 (Korean = BINGO) Slide 83... 2 teams given 2 different colors. When you are in full screen on ppt, you can click left bottom corner for the screen to select a pen/highlighter and you can also change the color. Then you can color the boxes that the students pick.

I used your video for my after school class. They thought it was funny. Had them write what they think would happen each time they were given a choice. They only made one wrong choice.

EASY, EASY, EASY game if you and/or your students are fizzing out here at the end of the year.

I use this after teaching p135 from the book.

This is a back-to-the-board game, where teams try to help a team member guess a word. I give teams 2 minutes to try 6 words. Passing is allowed. When the 2 minutes are up, I go back and quickly show the player his/her 6 words.

Each group of 6 words focuses on a particular country/culture. At the end of the 6 (even if they don't guess all 6), I give them a bonus point if they can guess the country.

Keep in mind that many countries (yours, maybe) isn't represented. I did 20- 2 rounds for 5 groups. Change it up as you'd like.

This game give students a lot of practice with English and you can relax and enjoy the class. December's almost here!

This is a filler lesson for the topic of culture.

It compares Korean and American culture. I post it anyway, as it may be a helpful template to you if you're from another country.

Unless you want to teach them about a random middle school teacher in Gyeonsangnam-do, you'll want to swap out pictures of me for pictures of you. Students understand and find the concept of a "bibimbap culture" interesting.

The other people pics are of people I know. I use these in the "guess who's American" section. Students are absolutely stumped and will try to argue that an American whose parents are from India is not American. Interesting conversation to have.

Slide 18 introduces accents and it's pretty fun to move your hand about the map and change your accent depending on where your hand is. They were also fascinated by this.

There's not really a clear production activity with this- speaking or writing. Feel free to add on.
