I did a mixture of some lesson plans I found on Waygook to cover the Speak Out page. But, I added this lyric challenge which perked the students' interest. They all seemed to enjoy the song (even the boys).

I used Miley Cyrus's "I Hope You Find It" to practice the key expression

I didn't let them view the video, just listen a few times. They did quite well with this worksheet and understood the song with minimal guidance. It should take about 10-15 minutes to complete the activity. Feel free to give it a try and let me know how it goes for you!

If you are still working through Lesson 6, here is a vocabulary lesson to use with your students. I was in a flood not long ago and my friends are currently experiencing another one. I shared it with my students, and they finally understood the severity. Feel free to treat this as your own flood...

This lesson also includes vocab practice, a worksheet, and bingo.

My students didn't get to bingo, but a more advanced class could easily finish this lesson.

I had fun with the puzzles  :)

1.  Shelter
2.  Approach
3.  Safe
4.  Toothbrush
5.  Sandbag
6.  Pack
7.  Suitcase
8. Secret word: Trahge = gather

Sentence scramble: The river is approaching floodstage, he said. &  People are putting sandbags along the bank.

I don't have a book at home with me, so I'll check the punctuation for the two sentences on Monday.

I think the song is good because there are a lot of "I hope" sentences in it.
I made a powerpoint to go with the song as well as two puzzles for if there is time left in class or for Ss to do on their own and show me later.

Also, I made a card grab game, so before doing the worksheet we listened to the song and when the Ss heard the word on the card they had to grab that card.
Ss enjoy this type of game, because everyone can play.

there is a Rihanna song with one line that uses "I hope" it is called "Farewell" if anyone wanted to spice things up? hahahaha

I've attached Lesson 6. Textbook and activity.
The textbook lesson is similar to others, i used it last year modified a bit for this year.
The activity book i made a worst case scenario game which the kids seem to love.
I hope it's useful.
