I modified and lengthened the dice game from period one and included an intro PPT with a cats theme.

This is a useful activity for practising subject. Students are divided into groups and given a set of cards with a number of different sentences. The teacher asks a question using the PPT file, and the student with the correct answer has to stand up and say their sentence. Make it a race between the groups to see who recognizes they have the correct answer first. Good for low level 5th grade students.

Trickeye- Thanks for posting the sentence match activity. We haven't done anything like that before, and my students definitely need to practice grammar (subject, time, etc.)
Andy- Your dice game looks sharp. What directions did you use and how did you explain it to your students?

Here's quite a simple bomb game that covers time and daily routines, was quite a useful review for an end of lesson activity.

Awesome game board plaguemonkey. I printed it and am planning on using it this week. I think it will work for groups of 4.

Thank you for all the great materials so far! Here are some of mine:
- A powerpoint I'm using in the second period to review what we covered in the first and introduce frequency words. Really trying to lay it all out for my students, who are quite low level.
- Story B typed up in separate sentences that will be cut into strips for groups to put in order.
- The five frequency words I'm using (never, sometimes, usually, often, always) just typed large in Word, also the Korean for each, for an ordering game that gets students out of their seats.
- A short ppt with large pictures and about 8 words that start with "st"
- A simple weekly schedule in Word format for students to create near the end of the lesson.

These are the lessons I've done for this chapter.
--- Coin Game: Board game where students flick a coin to get points. They ask and answer questions on the board.
---Wallace & Gromit Bomb Game: Students watch Wallace & Gromit clip (
) and play bomb game.
--- Sleeping Elephant Game: Team writing game. 4 students in a team and they race to make sentences. There are full directions in the PPT.
I tried out the Coin Game and Sleeping Elephant games this week and they went over pretty well. I'll try out the Wallace & Gromit game next week.

For this lesson, I have 1 student only so after she did her lesson with her Korean teacher, I did an activity with her where I drew empty clocks and wrote out the 2 key sentences: "When do you_____?" and "I_________at____." And I had her draw the numbers and the hands for each activity that she did (getting up, eating lunch, going home, etc...).
It just helped to get her off her seat as she was yawning so much in class!! -___-" She liked it though so I was happy. Plus, I hope it helped that I made her repeat everything and then when she was done, we did my schedule! And she had to ask me what I did. :)
Simple, but hopefully might help those of us who have (very) small classes with this lesson. :)

Here is another Angry birds game. I used it mid-chapter. The goal is to collect as many different coloured birds as you can.

Hey everyone!
Here is a cryptogram writing activity I painstakingly made from scratch today.
Print of the Cryptogram Sentences and cut them up so each student has one sentence. There are 7 sentences so 4 or 5 students will have the same sentence.
Show them the PPT that has the Cryptogram Code and let them solve their sentences. Shouldn't need too much explanation other than that each symbol correlates to an individual letter. I started with the vowels hidden to make it more challenging but if you click on the PPT the vowels will appear to help them if they're struggling (or for low level students). The PPT also has all the answers.
I had students volunteer to read their sentences until we had revealed all 7.
Hope it's useful!

I wasn't sure where else to put this, so here it is!
A Jeopardy review game for lessons 1--6. I got the template off Waygook, but the rest of it is original. The questions and answers are straight from the student book. It should provide a succinct yet thorough review, which should be relatively easy for the students if they can remember even a little. Mine probably won't. ::)

Sarane-the cryptogram is freaking amazing! I am going to have each group solve all of the cryptograms instead of one per group. I already know they are going to love it and want more. Thanks for sharing.
