Here's a lesson (powerpoint, notes, and an activity worksheet) for time to talk 1 - A math problem
(I just downloaded jlehmke's powerpoint and it's very very similar to this stuff, as in most of my powerpoint is used with just a few slides taken out...so you don't really need to get this stuff if you've downloaded the one above. Also, I'm totally fine with people using and remaking my stuff but if your going to re-upload it please at least add a BIT of your own work)

Basic lesson plan:
Say 'Hi'
Review numbers - get the students to say each number as it comes up
Learn the words for common mathematical symbols (plus, minus etc.)
Go over the important phrases - students should follow along and fill in the first bit of the worksheet
Do part A, page 114
Have a math race (see worksheet)
Do part B, page 114

Hi folks!

Here is a Simpsons themed Disappearing Dialogue game.As you can see,the kids look at the dialogue and memorize it for a few moments(time up to you based on level)I have them read it out loud together as a class as well. Then, you go to the next screen and there are parts of the dialogue hidden behind red rectangles. You press on the red rectangle to reveal the dialogue AFTER they answer to see if they were correct. This is really great to get them to memorize the Chapter's dialogue for their exam.I usually split the class into 3 teams or so.Then, I choose the fastest to raise their hands.I would give a point to the team that answered correctly of course. However, the smart kids will always dominate. So, I try to tell them I will only call on new people. If no one else knows THEN I call on the smart kids again.I have the co teacher help with this.Or you can do your own method obviously.I do have some vocabulary questions, jumbled words, and syllable and stress questions as well. You can easily edit this to your own liking of course!!Hope you like it!!
