here's a good game for ice breaking.
we call" who am i?" you ex pain a word and say "who am i?" then they can guess what it is.
kids say the answer then you ask " how do you spell it?"
you can spend 5minutes for this.

I used this today with my 6th graders and it seemed to work... i have 25 student in each class so i gave them a number each. Then the person with that number has to stand up and do the dialogue with another person, so one person is A and the other is B. Student can be A and teacher B or switch the roles.

I used this vid as intro and the kids seemed to really enjoy it

Also, this is the PPT that we used for the class. The practice 'game' at the end was actually quite fun for the kids since the 'rock,scissors,paper' aspect made them think it was a game..

thanks to Wretchard for original post. I've cut and pasted the PPT, making it much simpler. This is only the intro of new words and first period lesson (includes the q&a from look and listen). i also had my coT translate the new words. if anyone works on points/group system...it's nice to ask the Korean translation of each new English word. Then that group gets a point.
Later, I show the Korean word and ask for it in English as a review.

I modified the game for part 4. I wanted to give my students the opportunity to build up to writing full sentences. The rules are the same except for the first few rounds, students are writing words to complete the sentences. The last page they are expected to write a full dictation. Further instructions are in the PPT.

This is a dialog worksheet which can be used in place of Fun and Fun 2 or any other time where you have a spare ten minutes. Go through the dialog as a class then let them practice, changing the numbered words.

I changed up the Angry Birds powerpoint quiz game for chapter 2. Credit due toit he person who originally made and posted the Angry Birds quiz game in the first place.

I've also attached the activities that I used in the reading (part3) lesson.

These will be a lot of use to you since I found that the reading part of chapter 2 took only ten minutes to finish and you will need extra activities to keep those rugrats amused.
