Vocab and role play sheet

Btw - if anyone is using the role play sheet and finding success with them, I'd love to know about it. My kids love it, but I am curious about other students at other schools.

Okay. These are just 2 simple materials - a Pass the Paper and a Pirate Bomb Game.

The Pass the Paper is exTREMELY simple, as I just wanted to focus on the names of foods and "like." It will be a call-and-response, with all the students asking the question and the student with the paper answering.

The Pirates...well, I just wanted to make a Bomb Game. But, to do that, I had to add a few phrases, obviously. But I tried to keep it simple/within the context of the textbook, so as not to confuse the kids. Hopefully it works {crosses fingers!}

JUST TODAY: I did the first run-through with my kids - my students may be higher level, but they were able to pull off the Pirates Game. HOWever, it DID require some coaching to help them say the full sentences; for 4th grade, it's a little long to get a group to say "do you want some ~, yes, please," even. But it was possible, with a little coaching and a LOT of enthusiasm. That said, they DID enjoy the game. A lot. Just ,you might want to try shortening the sentences (omitting "more," for example.)

Just a heads-up, for anyone trying this game! The students really like it, just needs the right enthusiasm!

I made this simple Bomb Game and am going to try it out today, in lieu of the Pirates game, since my main emphasis for period one is food and what the students like to eat.

Make sure you clicke along the perimeter, as the actual trigger is NOT the picture, but the checkmark behind the picture. I'm just not that tech-savvy to fix it another way.

I don't think we're going to see a lot of stuff here for this lesson, since it already exists in the national curriculum from last year but here's my contribution for this lesson. A twist on Tic Tac Toe...I created it. Instructions on the second slide.

Is this the green book? ...pass the bomb btw can be super fun ...one of my kids might be a little slow for that though he kind of mumbles to himself I'm not sure if he's talking about me or if he has a disorder or if he is just shy. any advice from teachers with excessively challenging students would be appreciated.

A bounce back game. I made this. I got the concept from a more complicated version on MESEnglish. That one was difficult to explain, this one is much easier. The instructions are on the second slide. Please message me if you need additional help or instructions.

Here is a 4.1 Ppt. for introducing, I used some of what was already here, so thanks! I stole photos from a few and used the Pass the Paper format for all of them. I will then use that game that was posted here to play at the end! I added a few more slides and tried to make sure my Ppt. and the game foods matched pretty well, so I will try to attach both in case someone needs them!

Here's a game i adapted from a 6th grade lesson. I'm not the original maker, but it's a great game. The rules are in the doc. Enjoy!

Here's some word cards I made for this lesson. The first page of the doc are word cards for students to use in group. I usually split students in groups of 4 and they use the word cards to make sentences. I give them maybe 5-6 minutes. Also, I have them write the sentences they come up with on paper and remind them to use capital letters and punctuation. The group with the most complete and correct sentences wins.

The rest of the pages on the document attached are for whole group activity. I laminated the cards and put magnets on the back so I could use on the white board. I have students come up to the board and make different sentences. I also have them write the sentences we come up with in their notebooks for reference. I doubt the students reference the sentences, but I know writing the sentences gives them more practice with spelling and grammar.

P.S. It does take a bit of prep time, but it's worth it!

These are just my ideas and are very adaptable. If anyone has any other ways to use the materials, please feel free to post your ideas!

Here's a worksheet I made for this lesson using the new vocabulary words. The food mentioned in the textbook is included, as well as new words from the key sentences. Just a word search and a secret code activity.

I always include secret words in my word-searches for the kids to find as a bonus to get extra points/stickers after they have finished finding the main words. The secret words from this word-search are:

Ginny teacher (me) --> You can change this to your name, or just have them find "teacher" x2
Hyuna teacher (my ct)
English
ddukbokki
bulgogi
japchae

Here are picture cards and word cards for this lesson. The number of activities you can use these with are endless. Here are a couple activities I'm going to use them with.

1. Listen and Play
2. Pictionary
3. Memory guessing game (Scramble the pics and words on the white board using magnets, students come up to the board and turn over two. If they are wrong they don't get a point, if they are right they get a point. It can also be played in groups)
4. Matching (Match the words with picture
5. Hold up a picture and student's spell the name of the food or hold up a picture and student's write the correct spelling on the whiteboard and hold it up (work in pairs and take turns writing)

Like I said, there are ENDLESS activities these can be used for. I plan on laminating them just because I hate when student's treat material like it's trash!

Here's an unscramble game. I'm going to have student's work in pairs and use an individual whiteboard to write the answers. I won't really focus on points or the timer much; but making sure students write the sentence correctly with capital letters and punctuation. It should take up about 10-15 minutes of class, depending on student's levels.
