Here is an evolution game (pyramid game), took someone's template and remade it, so it's more student friendly, and self explanatory.. Also change the picture to yourself on slide 11..unless you want to use my pic as the champion :-\

Kung Fu Panda Bomb Game PPT review/pre-teach lexis/presentation: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B6hCal6Zg0UNamNIeEt2QXFScTJtVU54bEtnanJzZw

Please note that the boxes annoyingly don't disappear after you have clicked them, and I don't have time to fix this (some problem with Office 2010).

Here is a basic intro powerpoint I made to introduce some school subjects and teach the word "favorite."
For period 1.

here is a simple ppt to introduce the new vocabulary for this lesson. the words that convey ideas/emotions i've had my co-teacher translate so the students can fully understand. i also started by explaining the difference between fun and funny as it tends to confuse the kids. hope it helps!

Hey All,

Here is a ppt I made using the chase the vocab template. Resent having to spell favourite wrong but can't compete with american textbook. So this ppt practices the students saying "what's your favourite subject" and "my favourite subject is.............". I've added history and geography in as I needed 9 subjects. The game at the end works best in teams. Get the whole class to shout out "what's your favourite subject" and then get the team to choose  "my favourite subject is.............". Then get all teams to follow that subject and write the number of where they think it is on a board or paper. But don't let the cherubs cheat.

Adios :P :o

Here is a Mario Bomb game from another waygook that I tweaked a bit. Now it fits the dialogue from the new book.

Video shows other ESL learners answer the question, "What's your favorite subject?"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AR2M54yYEk

So, we have an open class and we made a video with the students. The kids were great, they ad libed most of the dialog, we only gave them the scenario and questions to ask. Later will post the material for the open class.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCBaXA0-OKA&feature=plcp

The story, I will use for reading. I will play it at the beginning, ask some basic questions. Then later give each pair the story, after doing the textbook. The students will put the story in order, from memory. Then listen again, without the subtitiles. Then will use the powerpoint to check the order, read together, translate, and hopefully play Taboo.

The open class file has the game inside of it. Both a pass the ball and a snail game.

And any comments on the video would be great. I want to show the students who did the video, how many people watched the video and how much they enjoyed it.  Thanks

Here is a simple worksheet to get the class to make a graph about favorite subjects. It has a section to question 12 students about their favorite subject and an outline to then make a bar graph based on the responses they get.

I don't have anything of particular substance to add but I made a vocab sheet for the students (too many of my kids don't memorize the new vocab unless it's right in front of them).

I also played a game with them that doesn't need any powerpoint or technology.  I went around tried to guess the students's favorite subjects.  The rest of the class would decide whether I was correct or not.  Then the students all asked the one I had singled out "what's you favorite subject?"  The kids loved it when I was wrong and they were right.

Also, just a quick tidbit, my kids loved guessing what my favorite subject is!
