Action Verbs Jeopardy Game
« Reply #1 on: October 05, 2011, 03:06:05 PM »
Hi,

I'm fairly new to this board, but not to Korea. I have a bunch of stuff I need to sort through and share with everyone. I'll start with this Jeopardy game I made for action verbs (a topic that constantly comes up). It is probably more appropriate for older elementary students (grades 4-6). Feel free to change and adapt it!

Present Continuous/Progressive activity based on Roadrunner cartoon
« Reply #2 on: November 07, 2011, 02:06:21 PM »
I found a link to this Wile. E Coyote and Roadrunner cartoon, with subtitles and specific questions pertaining to the use of Present Continuous (Present Progressive).

Here's the link:

I wrote out a fill-in-the-blanks doc, and the full script and link are in a text file.

I used it for my grade 5s, who are fairly low level, but it's appropriate for any class doing present continuous/progressive.

Hey all, I made this ppt to teach my 6th graders some grammar. It may be too advanced for some of your kids, but if you're interested, check it out!

I also used these youtube videos, which were hilarious.

1. What are you doing Budweiser commercial -- funny

2. Nintendo Wassup

3. Sights and Sounds of Thanksgiving Day football in Mass highschools (asked the kids "what are they doing?" "They are cheering.")

I like the speed quiz game. You split the class into two teams, and have one student from each team face away from the screen. Show a picture of an activity on the powerpoint (ex: someone riding a bicycle). The teams must act out the action without speaking (keeping noise levels down), and the two students must make a complete sentence (You are riding a bicycle). The first student to form a complete sentence wins a point for their team.

If students are having trouble, you can allow their teams to speak, but then the noise levels increase.
