Here is PPT I made to teach the rule about Comparative & Superlative in my 1st and 2nd period of lesson 7. Because My students are advanced, I decided to teach them both. I've added few slides from other PPTs and modified it to make it more applicable to my class.

I made workshet too so they can have the rules in their notebook with examples. I gave them to do it in class after teaching each rule.

Does anyone use the sentence, "How smart he is!"    My CT insists that it's a sentence structure Koreans learn in middle and high school and that it's real.  I've never heard this sentence structure before, besides Yoda.  I would just say, "He's so smart!"  Any input?

Yeah Im having issues with this too, I thought it was maybe because I'm from England so a lot of the sentences sound a bit strange to me, but this one sounds like something out of Jane Austen. In order for it to sound ok with me I would have to say 'Look how smart he is' or 'How smart is he!!' both of which i think might be a bit northern English so Im not sure they are much use.

In my middle school book the phrase they learn is 'How smart/how tall' etc which still sounds wierd to me but better than this.

I brought this up to my co-teacher when we started the lesson.  She too was insisted that it was proper English. She said there is a children's book that uses this language repeatedly. You're wasting your energy trying to argue with Koreans about this. Just go with it. It's still a grammatically correct exclamatory sentence.

etc

Show your students the two people/pictures being compared and ask them to line up on either side that they think will be more likely to be taller/lighter/faster etc

My students really liked this

I have been struggling with this, too.
There are some examples of playful language in children's' books - "What big ears you have, Grandma!"    But, a main part of the Lexical Approach is that our language is not original.  We say the same phrases that we hear all the time.   Maybe one day, Koreans will have the listening skills to understand movies and other media, and have a better understanding of what phrases we really use.
To feel better, I often tell myself that no one owns a language.  There can be new forms of English as it evolves around the world.

Materials: Stopwatch, ruler (in cm), desk (for arm wrestling)

This is a basic Olympics set up for groups of 4 students. Each student will work with their group in comparing hair length, arm length, speed, and strength.  For the race, I had the class go in pairs running 2 laps around the classroom (clearing space for safety reasons).  Group members record the time as they do this (you can choose to take students aside and check their time  while other students conduct measurements of hair, etc. or have the entire class watch).  Depending on the size and number of your students, I recommend you leaving the racing to the end of the activities (especially if you have many students in your class). Students can race next lesson. 

For arm wrestling I explain the rules - Students choose a partner and hold their arms at the ready. I set the computer online stopwatch for 30 seconds. When I say go, students start. If students tie, I have them rock paper scissors to determine the winner.  They write their name and write W -winner or L-loser on the appropriate line.

My kids really enjoyed it.
