PPT to introduce the new vocabulary and key sentences. I changed it slightly from what the book lists. The target vocabulary includes "get" but it's meant in terms of "get up." Since get is quite different in meaning from get up, I used the phrase get up instead of get.  Some of the words it may be best to get your c/t to add the Korean translation (specifically "care" and "usually"). Otherwise, this lesson seems pretty straightforward.

I've made a finger race game for Periods 1 and 2 (or whenever really).  I used the pictures from Islander's Intro PPT, so thank you Islander!!!

For anyone who doesn't know (because I know when I first started using the waygook boards I didn't know all the games) a finger race is really simple.  Students work in pairs and race to the opposite end.  They have to say each phrase that's denoted by a picture in English before moving to the next one.  When they meet in the middle they do a round of rock-paper-scissors.  Loser goes back to their start.  Every time they meet they play rock-paper-scissors and so it continues until one player reaches the other end.

I really loved your avengers practice ppt, so I added even more slides because I make my kids speak A LOT, so I need 12 partner dialogue slides and I wanted them to have control over which dialogue they had to say so I added a page where they pick a number [for practice with large numbers used in time] (like on your first slide for L&L). In the additional slides I added, I added dialogue asking about when he/she does something for more practice with verb changes. I also reformatted it so the background is blue and the characters don't have white backgrounds.

Go here for grammar points on verb changes do~does, go~goes, etc. It seems that chunjae's worksheets teach this but there's not a lot instruction on it elsewhere but it needs explanation. We just did a whole grammar lesson on it.

A ppt for p 2

I made a Sentence Auction game that we used as review at the end of this unit. I found the idea for the game on Dave's ESL Cafe (www.eslcafe.com).

The students were in groups of 5-6, and each group was given $250 dollars.

They bid on sentences, one at a time, and the winning team keeps the sentence.

If they buy a correct sentence they win 3 points.

If they buy an incorrect sentence they lose 3 points.

BUT

Every time we sold a sentence that was incorrect, each group was given 1 minute to correct that sentence by writing it on a whiteboard. The team who bought the sentence was given 5 points if they were able to correct the sentence (-3 points if they could not). All other groups are given 1 point if they were able to write the sentence correctly.

At the end of the game, every $50 the students had left was worth 1 point for their team.

It took about 30 minutes to play using 10 sentences.

I've attached an instructional PPT that I made to explain the game. It also includes the 10 sentences (of which I believe 8 are incorrect in some way). It also includes slides with dollar amounts that incrememt by $5 which I used to keep track of the bids.

The attachment with the "2_" is the same PPT as the "1_" presentation but created with VBA to reduce the number of slides and make things a little easier to use (in my opinion). Use whichever is easier. There are instructions on how to enable VBA and Macros at the end of the presentation so that the PPT functions correctly.

I've also included a file that you can use to print the sentences, and they should be large enough for the students to see if your classroom isn't too large.

The fake money is also attached in a printable format.
