My coteacher sent me the this ppt. It helps with sentence structure.

I also adapted a story for the reading period.

And here's a pirates of the classroom game that I stole from last years thread :-)

I absolutely love the memes on the white board game! Did your students recognize them or anything?

I have a PPT that I modified from my grade 4 class with a similar lesson :)
There is a true/false at the end of the PPT for review!

Then I'm doing a survey (changed a bit from  a previous post) as well as the Connect 4 in Space game (grid games are great for this lesson, but I've done the Pirates one in this class before).

I did the second page with my students.  You may have to give them an extra letter as a hit to get them going.  Both pages have the same message,  but the first is a little bit harder.

Worksheets for period 1 and 2.

8-1: vocab, key expressions, circle the correct word (fun talk), unscramble the sentences (listen and repeat), match the picture and words (get up, go to school, wash my face, have breakfast), write a phrase that means the same as "I have breakfast at 7:30." (I eat breakfast at 7:30 - feel they may have been taught "eat" meals and not "have meals", wanted to establish that they mean the same thing.)

8-2: Fill in the missing word from the word bank (fun talk), unscramble the sentences (listen and repeat), solve the puzzle (time-filler, wordsearch with 12 words going all directions, remaining letters will spell out "Sorry I have a piano lesson".)

Here are a bunch of activities and work sheets i've used/will use for this unit.
- word search if there is extra time at the end of one of the lessons
- find the mistake (already posted by someone above *thanks*) but edited and changed for my kids
- sunken times - (taken from someone else *thanks again to them) group by group they say a time in english trying to look for a treasure chest. but if it's not the chest they can get +1 or -1 points.
- magic gourd (review) bomb game where groups have the choice of keeping or giving away what they win (before seeing what it is (ie. + points - points, change, lose al) )
- kws - 20 key words in english and korean to study for you and or students

A simple writing game using whiteboards or paper: Time Jeopardy.

Write down or tell students a time.  The students must guess what activity you do at this time, and write it as a question on their whiteboard/ paper.

E.g.  Teacher says: 7:00

Answer is:  "What time do you get up?"

I know most people are past this, but I made a simple review PPT with a bunch of animated gifs for the kids cause they LOVE animated gifs :).  I also made a fun "timeline" worksheet for them to fill out based on their day.  Hopefully these will be helpful for someone! Enjoy!

Story Time 4 - The Little Mermaid

I took photos of the scenes from Story Time and made a fill in the blank guessing game for my students. I will ask them to guess what the mermaids are saying and then we will listen to the story.

5.8.1: After completing the Listen and Repeat 1, number 2 where Chris attempts to yawn I taught the children the word yawn and showed them this video...it was fun to see their reactions and to see how many of them yawn.  In my class of 25 I'd say a third yawned, including my co-teacher.

So I had open class with this lesson and my co teacher gave me this. I then edited it and resized it for the plotter printer. This layout is a good size for your white board, still leaves you some wiggle room and space to write on.

The game is pretty self explanatory. They had to read the sentences or make sentences according to where they land on the board. To see how many points they get, they had to spin a wheel (we had one in the classroom). The kids had a blast and open class was successful.

This activity is based on alibis for a crime. I've included a brief explanation of the story in the notes section on each ppt slide. Basically a truck full of Ghana chocolate has been stolen and police need to find the two thieves.

Two students go outside with their hint sheet (second page in the word file) and think of the same answers for each question (so they have an alibi).

The rest of the class also gets a hint sheet (first page in the word file) to help them make questions, they only need to choose five questions from the selection of 10 (but the suspects should think of answers to all 10).

I gave students 90seconds to do this.

Next bring in one suspect (the suspects must be interviewed separately - we had the other student listen to an English story on headphones to stop any cheating). They are interviewed by the rest of the class who should be making notes on the times (e.g get up at 8 o'clock). Once that is finished bring in the second suspect who is also questioned, any discrepancies means the class have found the thieves and you can make a big scene of arresting the suspects and sending them to prison etc.

Hope that makes sense.

Here's a song and video I made for teaching about time and routines.  It's a bit fast but I've still had success with it for 4th grade and up. The higher level students can mostly keep up while the lower levels are still able to participate at least on the Chorus.

I'm attaching a slide show of the lyrics and a printout, too. Hope it helps!
