English Land Lesson Plans?
« on: December 27, 2010, 11:07:37 AM »

I was wondering if anybody had any lesson plans or materials they could share for the English Land textbooks?

Like a lot of the elementary school teachers in Incheon I have to work afterschool programs, and I've up to this point been fine doing all the work on my own. But with the winter schedule coming up all my classes have been compacted together and I could use some help.

I used to get some good hints from this website: http://www.meaningfulvolunteer.org

But it's been taken down.

Cheers!

I've been using English Land for after school classes as well. I've made a couple bomb games as reviews for some of the chapters. Here is a game for Grade 3, Chapter 1 "Clean Up". Slide 12 and 25 are blank because I put my own picture in there. I'll try to look for the other games I made later.

Here's a banana bomb game I made for grade 3, chapter 3 - "Paper and Paint". I used the pictures to practice, "Does he/she have _____?" with the answer, "Yes/No, he/she does/doesn't." Sorry my powerpoint skills aren't the greatest cause I get too lazy to make them look nice haha.

Grade 3 Chapter 5 - "It Can Walk" Pass the Ball game. I combined another powerpoint I found on waygook with some gifs and funny pictures. The kids liked it.

Unit 3 flashcards for English Land 5, as well as a word document with some materials such as cards and worksheets.

* I have the teacher's book for book 5 which has all the lesson plans. I don't have them in computer files, but if you desperately need ideas for some specific units, please let me know and I'll type up some of them as needed.

English Land Book 4
« Reply #14 on: November 11, 2011, 01:56:53 PM »
Hi,

I thought I would start a new topic for the English Land book 4. I would like to share some ideas and some lessons I have done using this book with my after school class.

1. City and Country- PPT with 5 things game. I also did a class where students had to think of and draw a 'dream city' and I played the barclaycard advert for some inspiration.

2. Happy Birthday- I did a culture lesson on British holidays (taken from another Waygooker I think) and I also did an Easter egg hunt.

3. It's Sunny- For this topic we filmed our own weather report. The kids loved this lesson! I also did a class on global warming and extreme weather.

4. They're Brave- I did a mini Olympics (e.g. who is the bravest- first to pop a balloon).

I am currently on the 5Th topic. Hope this helps! It would be good to share ideas with anyone else who is using this book.

Hey everyone,
I am doing English Land 4 with my 5th grade after school class (happens to be right on their level, actually). I don't think many people use this book, but in case some do, I'm going to post decent things that I make for this class (which are few and far between, lol).
Attached is a PPT I made for my open class with them (When I Was Young). The first part is vocabulary/grammar review, the second part is a game that we played. The students were put into groups of 5 and 6, then we gave them small whiteboards. They had the write the answers to the questions (in complete sentences) on the whiteboards. It was easy peasy and they liked it.
I used a couple pics of myself as a youngun. My students thought that was pretty cool.
