Here is a very simple intro ppt.  It is one that has been previously used but I changed it to suite this lesson.  At the end there are some extra slides which you can use or not...it's all up to you.

Grade 6 Lesson 8- Would you like to come? (Frances Sohn)
« Reply #1 on: June 27, 2012, 01:41:24 PM »
Here is an intro Powerpoint. It has the key words and key sentences. I also used it to show the difference between common and polite. The way I explained it was that when you are talking to your friends, you usually use a common form of speech. Such as "Do you want...". You use the polite form of speech when you are talking to someone older or a stranger, or when you are being formal. Such as "Would you like to...". I wanted them to know that they didn't ALWAYS have to use "would you like to" as a way of addressing people with questions. My kids are pretty smart, and most of them got the difference, but I had my co teacher explain it for those who didn't.

The games I have are from last years lesson 14. I changed it to use our new target sentences and words.

I have a trash ball game, which I have never played before, but I have seen people saying that their kids enjoy it. So, I am going to try. It is getting late in the year and I keeping them interested in class is kinda hard.

The Zelda bomb game is pretty self explanatory. However, the "easy" level which you can select, is translating from Korean into English. I haven't  used it yet, since my classes are pretty good, but if you do, I wanted you to know that it is all target sentences from last year. Since I didn't think my kids would use it, I decided to not change it. Most of the sentences they should be able to get with no problems. If I have extra time after the main part of the game, I may test it out. But if you need to change it, by all means, do.

Hope that this helps some people out. Let me know if there are any bugs too. I haven't played all the games in class yet, so I don't know if they are fully functional.

I have an "I am pumpkin" game. It is a basic ppt, that just explains the game. Basically you have a group of kids. I usually do four. Or last year we played big groups of 10. You stand that person up, and you have to get that person to smile. The kids have to say a target sentence from the chapter, and then they can make up their own sentences. My smarter kids really loved the game, but the lower level students found it hard. So, use at your own risk.

The last ppt I have is an invitation ppt. It basically shows how to make an invitation, along with the script that they can fill out. I will only do this if I end up having enough time. The card isn't hard to make, but you have to make copies enough for your kids. I don't know about you, but I hate trying to make 200 copies. ><

  • Let's have fun teaching the 4th grade.
I don't know if I will use this in my class -bit long but it is based on a 6th grade level for Korean classes and could make a good filler.

PV=nRT

P is pressure
V is volume
n is number of moles
R is the gas constant

@sarahcanavese: Thanks for the Intro PPT and games...the trashball game was great for practice of key sentences...no blips! If you play this game, make sure to have 3 teams as there are bonus rounds for teams 1, 2, and 3!! I added the Korean translations of key vocab to your PPT  for anyone who would like! ^^
