Here is a simple board game that helps to review the occupations covered in the lesson (and some extra ).

You can play with dice, but we played with rock-paper-scissors.
If you win with scissors you get to move one space, with rock you move two and with paper three.

I got the template from waygook, so thanks to the original maker (whoever you are).

Have fun!

Attached is a Pirates of the Classroom game, adapted from a previous template. Was going to be used for the open class, which never happened. Hope it's still useful to someone.

Here's a charades ppt I made with a 10 second timer. I used it instead of Talk and Play 2.
We had 3 teams and one students from each team came to the front (just don't let the other students see the computer screen)
Each team took turns to mime.

My CT wanted key phrase handouts for each lesson. I think it's been a good quick reference guide for my students when they are studying. So I thought I would post it.

Reading & writing game.

Students work in pairs and must find out who the thief is (from a selection of 9). Hide enough clues around the class beforehand. One student finds a clue and memorises it then tells their partner who writes the corresponding information in the box. Have students switch roles after a few minutes. The thief is Kate.

Here's the ppt I made for the Ant and the grasshopper.
We use the first 3 slides to introduce the story,
 then play the CD-Rom,
then listen and repeat the next 3 slides
then answer questions about it,
finally, students role play in small groups and a few groups are selected to perform for the class.

5 -- 12 -- 3 Reading
Introduce the activity with *.ppt first. and familiarize them with the pictures. Then hand out the worksheets: *.doc
Can be played as a group reading activity too where each student in the group takes turns at reading one sentence from the (group) worksheet. Then they stand and go to the wall where the colored picture of pictures is hanging. They have to select the right picture in their minds and write down the corresponding letter for that picture in their worksheets.

I made a ppt to review each of the occupations and explain how to play the game. Thanks for the work, Vedas!

Period 2 lesson.

It features a series of ppt forms where the volunteering students can enter their favourite colour, animal, videogame etc which the 'program' then uses to calculate their ideal job.

My kids couldn't get enough of it.

So for this activity, I broke it into two classes. For the first class, I had my class make origami fortune tellers/cootie catchers. Majority of my students knew how to fold them already so it was fairly easy to instruct. I just had the DIY video (below) playing in the background as they were folding. Just like the video, we wrote down different colors on the first flaps, then numbers, and last the key phrases "I want to be a/an _______." We brainstormed colors and occupations as a class and the more advanced kids got really creative saying colors like chocolate brown and original red. For occupations, some kids even wrote down Spider Man and other super heroes.

For the second class of this activity, I showed the ppt telling them they are fortune tellers for the day and will be telling each others' fortunes by using the origami fortune tellers. The ppt is pretty self explanatory. They had a blast. My co and I made big origami fortune tellers to demonstrate and wrote down more unusual things inside such as pokemon master, Harry Potter, and etc.
