Here is a powerpoint I made to go with the Meet the World section (Chapter 12.3) They only talk about 4 wonders. So, I made a powerpoint to cover the rest. I couldn't really find an official list of wonders, it seemed like there were 10 or so recurring ones. haha So I just picked the 7 I liked.

I also attached the coloring sheet I made for this. I attached as a word document and a .pdf (Though many computers here seem to think that .pdfs are evil, haha)

I'm not cool enough for sound effects yet. Maybe soon!

So, Kpop tour of the 7 Wonders of the World!

Here is a worksheet I made for the lesson.  On the Look and Listen I left out two sentences " Sneeze:  Let's go together this afternoon."  " Bill:  Where are you going?" by accident but just let the kids listen and write where they belonged.

Also attached is a ppt for practicing the ing form and also making invitations, good for first period.

Prezi I made using someone else's template.  Focuses on Day 2 vocabulary, Look and Speak, and Say it.

Let me know if there are any issues.  Cheers!

This is an awesome PPT - well done :) I hope my students love it tomorrow as much as I do!

Yeah! I changed the first slide around a bit so that it was more exciting and had "Can you join us?" on it. So far, my students have been enjoying it. I had one class that said, "Wow, I can't believe it."- Because I told them that was the only line they needed to repeat -After every bubble. And then they kept saying it after the powerpoint. Mission accomplished. They didn't even realize they'd memorized it! haha

I also paired it with a coloring sheet of the seven wonders that made them fill in a "Wow, ________" blank in the middle. I'm glad you liked it!

REVIEW IDEA for "Can You Join Us?"

My school is a little behind, but hopefully some of you are still teaching this.  A lot of my students are tired of being passive in class, or just have no motivation to do anything.  My co-teacher and I decided to make the review as active as possible, and it was a lot of fun:). We focused on the following:

"I am _____. Can you join me?"
"We are ____. Can you join us?"
"What are we doing? Yes, we are ____. Who wants to join us?
"Can I join you?"
"Can I join you all?"

You can always try something different, but I have some fake flowers at school...three bouquets (from Daiso).  I demonstrated the verb “smell” and asked the students what I was doing.

“You are smelling the flowers.”

They all said the answer at the same time, then I asked my co-teacher if he could join me.

“I am smelling the flowers.  Can you join me?”

My co-teacher is a guy, so this demonstration was really funny when he put it behind his ear, heh heh.  There was a movie in Korea a long time ago that portrayed a girl with flowers in her hair as being crazy.  I’m sure that most of your Korean students think that a girl with a flower in her hair is crazy and not pretty.  Anyway, we then asked if another student wanted to join us, so one student pretended to smell the third bouquet.

The best part was when we played catch with my squishy rubber dinosaur, Dino.  I suggested to my co-teacher that we should play catch, using “Let’s”...so we started to throw Dino around in front of the class.  We asked if anyone liked to play “catch”, and they all raised their hand.  If Dino fell on the ground and someone picked him up, I asked that student if they could join us.  If we called on them when they were raising their hand, then they had to say, “Can I join you?”  We used “can I join you” and “can you join us” for this demonstration, instead of focusing on just one idea, because you don’t have to wait for someone to ask you if you want to join in on the fun.  Gradually we had about 5 or so students in front of the classroom throwing Dino the Dinosaur around.

Anyway, if you start out small and then end with throwing a squishy toy around the room, the kids get really excited…not out of control, though (^v^)/~.

RSP Active Game Idea

Make about 4 or 5 copies of page 235 in the textbook for each class.  You need one picture card for each student, and 4 of the same pictures.  I didn’t have an even amount of students in some of my classes, so I cut out some blank pieces of paper and wrote “Wild Card” on them (about 3 total).  I didn’t want to use the students’ cards because they should look at their textbook cards for review before the game.  It also takes waaaaaaay too long to prepare and separate everything if you don’t use copies.

For REVIEW, we used “I will ____.  Can you join me?” and “We will _____. Can you join us?”  You can choose one phrase when you have them repeat after you…I chose the “we” phrase…but make sure that you have the phrases written on the board.  Kids need visuals and controlled activities.  There’s always someone that ends up referring to the board when they’re playing the game.

SENTENCES:
---We will play cards.  Can you join us?
---We will play tennis.  Can you join us?
---We will go on a picnic.  Can you join us?
---We will go to the zoo.  Can you join us?
---We will paint a picture.  Can you join us?
---We will make ddeokbokki.  Can you join us?
(or anything…I think that’s supposed to be ddeokbokki)

For the DEMONSTRATION, do Rock, Scissors, Paper (RSP) with your co-teacher.  Make sure your students know who the winner and the loser are.  Be “cunning”, as my students say, and give your co-teacher the same paper that you have.  We both had the first picture, “playing cards.”  The winner says what they will do according to their paper, then asks the loser if they can join them.  Explain that the WILD CARD means you can choose any picture…so it could mean playing tennis, or it could mean going to the zoo.  The person holding the Wild Card is the only one that gets to choose, though…some of my boy students that don’t listen well thought that they could link up with anyone on their right and anyone on their left….so there were three different pictures in their final group of 4 people.  The Wild Card can only choose ONE picture to be theirs, not two.  This is best explained with pictures.

WINNER: “I will play cards.  Can you join me?”
LOSER: (if their paper is the same) “Sure, I can.”
---------Both students lock arms and try to find 2 more students with the same paper as them
---------The next time, they talk together and say, “We will play cards.  Can you join us?”

WINNER: “I will play cards.  Can you join me?”
LOSER: (if their paper is different) “Sorry, I can’t.”
--------Students separate and try to find others with the same picture paper as them

ACTUAL GAME:  Give each student one picture paper, face down.  They shouldn’t look at it right away because everyone should look at their paper at the same time.  When everyone has a picture paper, say “Ready, GO!” and have the students stand up and walk around the classroom.  They shouldn’t be cheating and looking at other people’s papers right away, so try to control this.  When they have found three other people with the same picture paper, have them go to one of the teachers and say, “We will ______.  Can you join us?” We gave treats, almonds, to the first two or three groups that successfully followed directions.

If your students have a low level of English, then just use “we will _____. Can you join us”…so it won’t get so confusing.  My students loved throwing each other around when they linked arms, so this was a fun activity and well worth the effort.

Here is a Halloween.ppt I used from another Waygook contributor and made a Halloween game that reviews lessons 10, 11 and 12.  It also has a few random Halloween trivia questions put in there as well.

"****EDIT I will be removing all of my materials as waygook.org wants to now charge you for something they did not create. If you would like a COPY FOR FREE, please inbox me and I would be more than happy to send you the materials. I would recommend all other users with  uploaded materials to do the same."

2 printable group games, RSP (about 10 mins to play including explanation), and snakes and ladders (15ish).

Snakes has a little bit of review from Unit 11, RSP only has 10 questions so it's all from this unit.

I took the existing pass the ball game and edited it for my kids. The original one has excuses as to why someone can't accept the invitation, which I won't be covering as much as with the national textbooks a few years ago. So I just made it with simple yes and no gifs (since I'm a fan of gifs, heh. the kids seem to like them too!).
