If you use the Monsters' Inc game, you'll need to go through it and change "loose" to LOSE.

Are you all planning on teaching "How tall you are" etc or changing it to something that English speakers under the age of 90 actually say? (i.e. "You're so tall"?)

1. Intro power point with vocabulary- You should have your co-teacher double check it. I use google translate

2. Worksheet for lesson 10-We will teach the kids the song Longer by Dan Fogelburg.

I really hate using the idiotic terms "How tall you are!" It sounds like a question and will confuse them. I am going to tell them to say "You are tall" or "It is big" since that is what we all say and it is easier.

here's my powerpoint for speaking day. it was very successful.
here is an outline of my lesson plan:
1. asked the students for animal names they know in english.
2. introduced 3 from the vocabulary list
3. 3 questions about animals. ex. what animals are taller than a dog?
4. say it practice questions (kids had a lot of fun debating about the baseball field and soccer field. i bet even you didn't know that a soccer field is smaller than a baseball field. :D i gave stickers to teams with the right answers.)

Story Day lesson outline

1. Riddle: Who am I?
"Im shorter than a giraffe.
Im faster than a cricket.
Im taller than an Ace.
Im stronger than Pororos friend. "
Answer is Jong Gook (Kids LOVED this and my co-teacher thought it was smart. I'm hooked on the Korean game show Running Man lately)

2. Story Box

3. Then I edited an Olympics game someone posted last year.
Faster is determined by catching a ruler. Luckier is determined by throwing two dice. Stronger is determined with an arm wrestling match. Kids loved it and it got everyone involved.

EDIT: for the Olympics game, students send students out BEFORE they know what the event is. Kids went crazy when they sent out a boy for their team while other teams sent out a girl for "Who has shorter hair?"

I've used the Karate Kid video on the ppt to introduce the topic, and the instructions for Top trumps follow.
Please find top trumps cards attached, you can amend these templates for other themes as you wish.

You can also include superlatives to make the card more difficult.
