Here is an intro Powerpoint to Lesson 9. Pretty basic stuff. Also there is a Pokemon game, thanks Sprite06 for the template. It is basically a review for the last 9 lessons, but with an emphasis on 9.  Most of the pictures refer back to the intro ppt.

The kids will be doing this as a game the first time they are back from summer vacation. I am pretty sure there is a picture of me somewhere in this game, but I am not sure where it is. Otherwise, enjoy!

Here's an intro for the lesson (day 1) and a matching game.

Here is a video we made for this lesson, its a news report some of our students helped us put together where they ask teachers, what are you going to do this weekend, this afternoon, this summer vacation.

We also split up our classroom into levels. For Higher levels Give them the worksheets about ordering food or we had them write their summer plans then interview a partner about their plans.

Mid -Level Had them play the land game

Low-level: print out the photos from land game insert them into picture dice, or if you don't have those available put the pictures on the board labeled 1-6  and have them roll the dice and make sentences for the pictures.  There is also a worksheet for the low level Ss where they can write what Mary is going to do.

Here in my vocabulary (spelling included) and key expressions power point for this lesson. The last slide hyperlinks to a weather website so that the students can describe what the weather will be over the following week. You'll need to change the link to correspond to your location. (Access the link by clicking the sun.) There is also some hidden animation on slide #21, so be sure to be aware of that ahead of time.

You'll also need the font "Delius," which I've included here as well. In my opinion this font (along with "Comic Sans") is the best for clarity, except for the letter "k," unfortunately.

I hope this will be helpful for you.

I have a dice game, that the students will play in pairs. Each student will get a sheet to keep so they can 1. mark their points and 2. refer to it to know what each roll of the dice refers to.

A: What are you going to do this Saturday?
B: It is going to be sunny this Saturday.
B: I'm going to read a book.

Made a pass the ball game. Good for motivation after 2nd period when they have learned the key phrases and such.

For part 5, you can have the kids listen to an actual Korean weather forecast in English courtesy of Arirang News. Have the kids fill in the attached worksheet. Arirang provides a transcript of the weather report, so you can print that on the reverse side if kids are having trouble with listening. For wind speed, you will need to go to another weather site.

Use the "News at Noon" edition or the "Prime Time News" edition. The weather report comes at the end.

Used the pass the ball game slides from a post on this thread and made it a "Pass the bomb" game.

Works best when you have at least 2 "bombs" going around the room.

Is anyone going to (or 'will anyone' haha) bother teach the difference between 'going to' and 'will' (which was taught, perhaps not in the best way, in Lesson 2).

It's a complicated and often interchangeable set of expressions, so thinking it's probably best avoided?
My 6th graders aren't the most abstract thinkers, following years of rote learning..... :s

key words/sentences

Also small game at the end, you should probably delete that or print out some dialog with the pictures used in the ppt.

Here's they keywords and at the end a find the hidden word game i did. The students had to find the word behind the box (it was their key words) When they found the word they got the amount of points that totaled all the boxes left on the board.. 25 boxes total.
(for example if there was only 15 boxes left before the found the first word. Then they got 15 points. If there was 22 boxes left before they cound the first word they would get 22 points. If there was only 10 boxes left before they found the second word they would get 10 points)

Here's a little grammar review: I modified the Pass the Ball/Bomb Game above.

Also, there is a Battleship type boardgame.  I made a class set and each S received a set of small wooden game pieces.  You can also use dried beans, paper clips, etc.  A problem I had, though, was that it was a little difficult to hide one's gameboard from his or her partner, so we used books as dividers.  Have fun!

Here is a quick powerpoint that focuses on the weather aspect using the Pixar short "Partly Cloudy." The kids write down what they see in the movie, then go on to forecast the weather. I also included a few more weather-related words for a little extra vocabulary.

When the title of this lesson comes to mind, it brings up recollections of the Song let's Fly a Kite From Mary Poppins.

This YouTube clip has subtitles.

Could be a handy filler between games and activities.
PV=nRT

Where
P is pressure
V is volume
n is number of moles
R is the gas constant
T is the temperature

I am also going to show this video instead of the song - it "What are you going to do?" It does not talk about the weather, but I am going to show it and focus on the second part of the video and have the kids fill in the blanks on the worksheet attached.

Happy Teaching :)
