Some materials:

* Introduction + bingo game
* Pick the picture:  the teacher writes down every team's choice (either picture 1 or 2, and later on 3 or 4) for each round.  All the teams that picked the smileys get a point, the rest get nothing.
* Review
* Tic Tac Toe game:  I plan to put the game boards in plastic sleeves and give each student a whiteboard marker.  You can also laminate, or just let them erase their pencil marks to keep playing.
* Reading worksheet (You can get the Gogo video here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5Y95CDKk5I)
* Word searches

This went pretty well, over a two lperiod lesson: students "made" (drew and colored) a Western-style meal in period  2, then had a formal "dinner" with their group, practicing the vocabulary from the chapter in period 3.  Additionally, I did some cultural education.  Unable to find inexpensive condiment jars, bread baskets, etc for the role-play, I printed them off, cut them out and laminated them (one set for each group).

After playing it for my class, the song is a little fast.  You may have to modify by stopping and reviewing.

Here is the power point I have put together for this lesson. I have put a lot of work into it. It covers all of the key phrases very thoroughly. Enjoy!

So I included two different versions of Mother May I at the end of the ppt. Just hide the slides for the version you don't want to use.

Here's a quick matching game for this lesson. I'm going to have my kids say the appropriate sentence every time they flip a tile. Ex: "May I have a cookie?"

I edited an existing template, so kudos to the original creator.

This board game is for period 5. My students are very shy and don't like roleplaying. Therefore, I created a board game for the storytelling. The students must work in teams of two. I have 16 students so I will have two teams per board.

Accompanying each board you will need a copy of the script and a dice. The students must role the dice. Depending on where the students land, they will have to act out that scene.

I have the script in a powerpoint. I recommend reviewing the ppt with the students before playing the game.

These are two games I created my class.

The first one is the classic connect four.

The second game is blazing pen.

 It's for period 4 to help them with their writing.
The purpose of the game is that students have a short time to unscramble the words. First person to get it right wins.

This is really good. My students hate role playing usually, save for 3rd grade, but I think this is a great way to still have them use the script. Thanks!!

Instead of the "Meet the World" in lesson 3, I ended the class with some differences between American and Korean table manners.

I've re-tooled this lesson, so now my first period is an intro of food riddles, then the book.  Then students will name the different foods as they appear, then guess the flavor profile.  Then we'll draw our dinners using the handout in my post above. They use the flavor vocab in period 2 when we'll play "Tasty Time", wherein teams must hold up a sign with a flavor on it each time a food appears.  Probably finish period 2 with the wordsearch byabcdenglish.

The game requires a touch of prep, printing the final slide in the period 2 ppt, cut 'em out and mount them on flyswatters (if you have enough), or laminate them on larger sheets of paper if you don't. In the last part of the game, they see new foods, and must guess the flavor.  It you want, you could incorporate naming into the scoring.

There was so little in this chapter as far as interesting vocabulary.
But here's my first major ppt bomb project.

It's probably good for middle level or advanced....but hey, it's all relative.

There's also a template here: http://www.waygook.org/index.php/topic,80337.0.html

Enjoy!
