Here in my vocabulary (spelling included) and key expressions power point for this lesson. The last slide is intended for you to ask random students (or those who wish to answer) how often they do the various activities.

You'll also need the font "Delius," which I've included here as well. In my opinion this font (along with "Comic Sans") is the best for clarity, except for the letter "k," unfortunately.

I hope this will be helpful for you.

Does anyone have any good material for this chapter yet? I've just begun and I feel as if the material is very dry...

Does anyone have any good material for this chapter yet? I've just begun and I feel as if the material is very dry...

Materials for this one are definitely lacking.  I have taught 6th grade at public schools here in Korea for three years with three different textbooks, but this is the first time this topic has been introduced in a textbook.  So, you will not have much luck searching for related materials from older threads here in Waygook.

I made this presentation to help with the first section.  I am doing the second section tomorrow but I do not feel good enough about what I plan to do to want to share the resources here.

Idea for first class.

After 10, 15 minutes in the lesson, let everybody stand up and stretch from upper to lower body.  Use the phrases 4x/6x/ twice/ etc. e.g. wiggle your shoulders 10 times / make legs straight and touch the floor 5 times, etc.

Good for waking up the students, practicing target language and time-filling + it's fun too!
Out. Never been happier

I was thinking of this.

Since it's an exercise related class... Have a Class "OLYMPICS" the whole class has to participate in four events

- Who can do the most push ups?
-Who can do the most situps?
-Who can do the most squats?
-Who is the best at arm-wrestling?

You can use half the class to count the other kids and such.

You can also give students the title of Gold Medal, Silver Medal, and Bronze Medal.
You can even take pictures of the winners. This might make a good second class.

Here are a couple of activities I made. The first is a simple powerpoint on the difference between "Once, Twice" and "# times" a day, a week, etc. The other is a game I made based on something I saw on Seifeld once. Two students come to the front, one for the "odds" team, the other for the "evens" team. The students each shoot a number of fingers, and if it's odds, the odds student says the sentence, if it's evens, the evens student says it. They just have to make a sentence using the clue on the ppt, but they have to use the total number of fingers in their answer, so if one student shoots 3, and the other student shoots 5, the "evens" student might have to say "I eat hamburgers 8 times a week." I've used some funny and some normal slides, but you can obviously change them as you see fit.

Also, I made up a little worksheet where they have to fill in 5 or more things they do each day of the week, and make 5 sentences about it on the bottom, after which they read the sentences to the class.

I've attached a short introductory ppt that I made for unit one, illustrating twice a day, three times a week, etc.

I also found a youtube video to introduce the concept.  The kids might not understand much of her opening speech, but it's mostly to get a laugh and kick-off the lesson.  She does use the phrase "three days a week, or every other day" at one point.

Thanks for the materials everyone. I found this video and may use it for my open class, first period of the lesson. It's pretty simple, using the expression "How often do you...?"

Here is a word/reading game for section 4.  Students are shown a word cloud and have to guess the word or sentence.  The first six are vocabulary words, the last six are sentences.

Thanks for the prezis!  I'm going to use them in class.  Where do you get these beautiful pictures?  Could you recommend a site?  Thanks!

Hello,
Attached are several things I have planned for this topic.
1. The first is just an introduction using some celebrity pictures to get them saying the target sentences.
2. The second is a powerpoint that you can print to make flashcards. (I played a game where one student from each team comes to the front. I then show the picture on the ppt and the first team to say the correct sentence scores a point.)
3. The third is a guessing game
4. I used the fourth as a review - it goes over the target phrases using pictures of cats.
5, 6. This is a speed game. Split the class into groups of 6-8 and print out attachment 5 and give to a team leader. Print out attachment 6 and give one number (card) to all the other members in the team. Then time the team to complete the task. The task is for the team leader to go to every member of their team and ask them a question. i.e. How often do you watch TV / clean your room etc. The student with the number card replies once / 2 times / 3 times a week / day etc. The fastest team to complete the task is the winner. (This is done one team at a time). Repeat the same task again and see which team can improve their time the most.
7. This is a battleships game.
I Hope some of these things will be useful.

I made the tag clouds using a free tag cloud creation service called Tagxedo.  You can also make them using a site called Wordle.

Here's my very basic, non-flashy introduction powerpoint. It has all of the key vocabulary and phrases, with pictures first and then words appearing with a click. I usually show the picture, have the kids guess the word, click to show it, and then reveal the vocab word.

Hi everyone, this is a family feud power point that I adapted from another user (I'm sorry I'm not sure who) to use for this lesson. It asks How often do you... and answers using once, twice, three times...

Hope it's of use!
