Family Feud Game and Survey
« on: October 12, 2012, 12:35:40 PM »
I didn't make the powerpoint template, someone else on here did but I revised it slightly.  The scoreboards on the home screen can be edited while you play.

The way I did it, was I gave the survey to 150 of my sixth graders and then tallied there responses for the game answers.  Tallying took a considerable amount of time but if you teach elementary school the most popular choices will correspond well to their age group.   Of course, you can just fabricate likely answers.

It is also important to print out the answer sheet so that you know which buttons to press during the game.

Nice, I made a family feud template and have wanted to do something similar to your survey. My co-teachers pretty much plan most of the class structure though so I don't really get too much time for games like this in my regular class.

I put your questions into my template to offer an alternative. It's more based on the look of the tv show, and has a scoreboard for each survey as well as main scoreboards for the overall score. I added a third scoreboard to keep it in line with your original. Thanks for sharing.

Hey, thanks for the upload and the great game templates. I just did this game with my 3rd grade middle school students (they finished their exams like a month ago) and came across a few problems.

On question 8; favourite TV Show the number 3 answer with 5 points, is "ForYou in Full Blossom". I asked my CT and she didn't even know what the translation would be, I then asked another CT and she said that it's a drama that finished in October. It seemed a bit odd that Gag Concert, a really popular show, only had 3 students saying that it's their favourite show, whereas this really random show that finished months ago is number 3. Also, the total number only tallies upto 71, so does that mean that the other 79 students all answered different tv shows (if gag show was bottom with only 3 votes it means that they must have chosen at least 40 other different tv show). I'm not complaining as the template is put together really well and it will have obviously taken a long time to do the tallies, but am I missing something here??

Also, the Most Wanted Country to Visit, China in bottom place has only 4 votes. The total vote count is 100. So does that mean the other 50 students answered really random countries, none of which got more than 4 votes?

@JamesBondGibbon

I'm glad you were able to use the game.

I collected the data during September so it makes sense that that answer wouldn't really apply much anymore.  I welcome you to change the answers as you see fit.  There are some reasons why the numbers don't come out perfectly.  First, not every student answered every question in a way that fit the data.  Sometimes they left the question blank.  Basically, I would ask 150 students but not get 150 acceptable answers.

To answer your question about countries, the remaining 50 votes were from students who either left it blank, wrote down they couldn't decide, wrote something which wasn't a country i.e. Africa, or picked one of the other 190 "really random" countries which did not make the top 5 most popular choices.  Also, it could have been that China was tied with other countries that also got 4 votes and I just picked it, I can't remember.

Thank you! I used this as a follow-up to my Grade 5's self-introductions worksheet. I think it helped make an otherwise dull first week of classes into something more meaningful. They seemed to appreciate that I went through all their responses to do this!

This is one of the best games I have downloaded from Waygook.  ;D
I have altered it to suit various levels from 1st grade Middle School to 2nd grade High School, boys and girls.

Every single class I have used this game in, have overwhelmingly enjoyed the activity. The students get very active and competitive.

I usually get through 3-4 rounds in a class (45mins).

Well done to the creator of this  :azn:

Zeegs this is amazing thanks!

I've added a few survey questions from the real Family Feud show. The kids especially liked "Which food is bad for kissing?" I also replaced the bedtime question with another survey, since my students just started listing numbers.

12 questions was plenty for one lesson, but for teacher sanity, if you're playing  it a few times in a row, 16 will keep things interesting.

Cheers
