This is an intro Ppt. for the students, probably for period 1 of lesson 12. I used another persons from a different book and doctored it and added all the key phrases for this book period 1.

These are the materials I will use for period 1.
1. Introduction ppt using the target phrases. I want to...

2. Rock, Paper, Scissor game board. Students start in the middle and do RPS. The winner moves to their first circle and says the target phrase. Students repeat RPS and move until they score a goal. when they score they can tally the number of goals they have scored in the area marked and return their game markers to the middle and play again. After a period of time you can say stop and the student with the most goals is the winner.

3. This is a review game. In teams students pick one of the images and the team says the target expression for that image. Behind each image is either 1-3 stars = 1-3 points.  a skull = -1 point or a change points icon.

I found a cute song about this lesson and I used it before beginning of the first lesson.

My children liked it very much :)

Going to do a Typhoon game that I found on the internet, here is a link for the instructions for the game.

Many of you may already know this game.  It is great for large classes and you can adapt it for any level.  My 4th - 6th grade classes really enjoy it.

What you do first is make some teams -- I use the 6 rows.  You'll want to have at least 4 teams.

On the chalkboard you put many cards in rows (I use a 6x6 grid).  On the back side will be point values, the front can be blank.  You also need to label the rows and column with letters and numbers (think battleship).  I use A-F and 1-6.  Each card has a number and letter (A-1, A-2, etc.)

Now for the game: You ask any review question and have students raise their hands to answer.  If correct, they pick which card they want ("I want C-3").  The point value on the back is the number of points they get.  But here's the twist: a few cards will have a "T" instead of points.  A "T" means they receive 0 points for their team, but they can also wipe out another team's points from the board (it's a typhoon).

This game gets quite competitive, which is great!  I add to the fun by making little houses to tally points (a 5-sided house is 5 points, and all my points are derivatives of 5: 5, 10, 15, 25).

Variations: I sometimes replace the letters and numbers with vocab (occupations, places, sports, whatever).  That way they can practice sentences like "I want to be a OO.

Thanks go to Dan Pallmann and the genkinenglish website.

Each are just over a minute. The first is Nick Vujicic, who has no arms and legs. It uses the Key Expressions "I want to..." very well. The second is a band of Koreans singing "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". It uses English subtitles.

Using wingers' review ppt. pictures, I made this reading game. First I am going to cut and print out the circle pics (I changed one to ice cream, so if you prefer the cookies, just delete the ice cream on top of them :-) and change the words too, don't forget) and laminate the circle pics. This will be a group game so I will make 7 copies and laminate all the pics for each group. The word papers I will not bother to laminate I think, maybe just print on thicker paper.
Students read the sentences and then place the correct picture over the matching sentence.
: D

Now I'm not laminating, I'm just putting them in envelopes. Thought I'd share.

This is a keyword PPT with gifs. My students absolutely loved it and they have been mimicking the gifs and saying the words in the hallway. I'm so proud of them

Here's an activity I did about a year ago and my students really got into it. In this activity, students will make their own bucket list. It's basically a list of the things they want to do before they die. I got some really nice lists from my kids! Here's the rundown of the lesson:

1. Show the New Buried Life clip I've attached below. Make sure the video and subtitle file are in the same folder or else the subtitles won't work!

2. Ask the students what they saw. What was the video about and what were some interesting things they remember?

3. Ask the students what they want to do before they die and have a few students share with the class.

4. (Optional step, but helps a lot!) Make a power point of your own bucket list and share it with your class so they can get an idea of things they should write. I made one and put things like, "I want to be a yoga master." and "I want to go to India."

5. Introduce the activity. Give students a blank white sheet of paper and have them fold it in half hamburger style. This will be their bucket list. Tell them to make a cover for their list and then inside the folded paper write as many things as they can using the grammar, "Before I die, I want to..." If they are done early, tell them to either write more or draw a picture of one of the things on their list.

6. After everyone is finished, have students volunteer to share their lists in front of the class. Collect the lists and display them in your classroom for everyone to read. I got really successful results!

Sidenote: Some people mentioned they had a problem getting the video to play. I play this video with the KMP (which I believe stands for Korean Media Player..?) media player that's on my computer and have had no problems.  If you don't have KMP and are having problems, try downloading the program and seeing if that fixes whatever may be going on.

Veronica Salt's "I Want It Now" from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory has a fair amount of target language for this lesson.

Here is a simple worksheet I made. It helps the students practice writing sentences using "want." You can also have them use specific things mentioned from the book: wash dishes, use the computer, clean the house, ride a bike etc.
Examples: I want to eat pizza.
She wants to do her home work.
We want to play video games.

Just want to mention on that Jim'll Fix it, that he's facing paedophilia and child abuse charges at the moment. A lot of them.

I don't suppose it'll affect your lesson much, but the video is pretty creepy when you acknowledge what he's been up to.
