I borrowed heavily from user bhogj in the old thread, however, I changed my PPT to include the vocabulary from the chapter and some grammar points. The "...so that (S) can/could..." has been hidden because it goes over my students' heads when I talk about it in English, but if you have Intermediate level kids, I'd try it if I were you.
The FIFA game is great! I've included a word doc with the answers just to make it easier (since they aren't on the PPT).

Since we're back at school and in the swing of things (and some of you may be new), my format is like this:
Day 1 - Introduce the chapter and vocabulary and touch on anything "cultural" like holidays
Day 2 - Listening activities in Orange and Green book, lots of Listen & Repeat, and end-of-class mini speaking quiz (usually off the top of my head)
Day 3 - Same as D2 but with Speaking activities and a small partner or group game
Day 4 - Review the chapter, ask questions from the book, 5-10min study, then the big "game" which they all really love.
I try to follow this format because I teach Middle School Boys (only) and if we do more than 1 big game or activity a week, they start "demanding" more or zoning out. They somehow do much better with just listening and repeating than interactive learning?? Even after a year at this school, I don't understand why that is.
I'm trying to change the head teacher's mind about Western teaching styles but he doesn't want any of it.
