I played this game with my worst behaved classes and it worked! They really got into it.

Thank you so much! I stumbled across this last night and made a few adjustment to cater to my kids level (I took out the verb/noun/adjective slides, for example, and simplified a few of the other ones), and tested it on my middle school boys earlier. THEY LOVED IT! They are generally a fairly apathetic bunch but this seemed to work...

Might play again later in the week, but I'll make an effort to mix up the teams slightly as two teams were dominating.

Alternative rules:

Give them 1 minute to write as much as they can per category, bonus points for the team with the most and each group can choose 1 of their favourites to read out and you can award points for your favourite, the funniest, the most original... your choice.

Works really well with my kids.

This game was great even for my regular kids. They are normally one of my worst classes too. Great idea! The only think i would change is the fist slide.  I find it is good to give the game a name that the kids remember that way if they want to play again they can ask for the game by name.  THANKS!!!!

Fabulous activity! My middle students will love playing this, because they love competing against each other in teams, it will also work really well to get them talking and coming up with the answers together. Great job.

I think that I would have to completely modify the game. 

 I could not try to play it now with my students as they have a very limited vocabulary base.      

My kids found it easy-to-medium. I think its flawlessly executed myself.

I agree with most of the people posting here. This game has been an absolute smash hit, AND I was able to play it with bot intermediate and adv. classes of both 3rd and 2nd graders. I played around with changing the points, so you get or lose points per letter, making vowels even more risky. I definitely will be looking for more updated versions with more categories. I split the class into two teams and start at the front of the room, working to the back making sure every student gets the chance to choose a letter, otherwise not everyone would participate. My co-teachers loved this game as well and the amount of participation it drew. At first I offered candy rewards for the winners, but I played it recently without candy, and it still went well.

I've added a Winter Vacation Connect 4 Game at the start (students make sentences about what they did during the holiday) and I also changed/removed some of the categories that I thought might be too hard for my class.

So I started cranking through how to make new ones quickly rather than trying to edit the existing document and figured I would post a quick step by step. Also for the person looking for the ppt you can't get them without subscribing, the $20 for one year was what I did. It covers the server costs of maintaining the site but depending on how keen you are on making your own or downloading this might help you.

Step one, pick your vocab(duh XD)

Step two for each word insert a table of that length i.e. "Parallel" insert a table of 8 columns, my recommendation is to format the first table(text size and style etc.) and then manage subsequent tables by copying and pasting then adding or subtracting columns accordingly.
Use the layout function to standardize the width and height of your panels

Step three, create a single object of the same size as one column of the table(once again using the format function allows you to be very precise/specific), I used a rounded square but you can use any shape you want as long as it covers your letters, this will be your template

Step 4 using the animations function for the object choose trigger on click of the object, set an exit animation and press play slideshow then click the object to test

Step 5 copy and paste the object which will automatically format each copy to follow the animation on click of the copy place the copies over your letters
