For the Grade 5 and Grade 6 books, keeping the old threads and updating them might be a valid option. There are only minor additions to the content in the new books. People can just look at the post date and know whether it is specific to the new books and artwork or not.

For the Grade 3 and Grade 4 books, I don't think keeping the old threads open is the best way to do it. The old lessons often merged disparate vocabulary sets into a single chapter, although they usually had one grammar focus each. The new textbooks in use by different schools might not use the same vocabulary with each lesson, and some teach slightly different grammar. (Is everyone learning "have" with school supplies? Days of the week with school subjects? I don't know how homogeneous the new books are, as I only have access to 천재교육.)

Whether we keep the same threads for G3&4 or not, I think we need a sticky post listing the topics/grammar/vocabulary and which threads to find them in (with links), so people can find the posts they need.

I agree with del about the 5th and 6th grade books.  Since they are nearly identical we can just keep old threads and update them.

For the new 3rd and 4th grade books I think that there are only 3 different types of English books from what I have read in the forums.  I think we should just create new threads that distinguish which books and lesson periods and link into the similar lessons from the past.  I'd rather start a new so there would be no confusion.

Yeah, pretty much what ucla said. I'd vote for keeping the 5th and 6th grade threads, and creating new ones per book for 3rd and 4th, with the first post set aside for links to similar unit threads in the other books and previous books. Solves the problem of similar target expressions but different vocab whilst still providing convenient ways to dig up alternate resources.

Here's what I'll do:

1. Use this thread to figure out what 3rd and 4th grade books are out there.

2. Create new threads for each 3rd and 4th grade book and link them to each other, and the index.

3. Add 2011 to 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade thread titles.  Also, write an explanation in the index of why the lesson titles may be different from the 5th and 6th grade thread titles.

Let me know if you have anything to add or change..or a better idea of how to organize these threads.

this would be better, as posted in the index thread:

It would be great to have a forum for each for 3rd and 4th grade, and then a subforum for each publisher w/thumbnail.

like this:
ElementaryMaster Forumused for templates and general discussion
Grade 3"empty" holder subforum, can't post
Forum for each book
Forum for each book
Forum for each book
Grade 4"empty" holder subforum, can't post
Forum for each book
Forum for each book
Forum for each book
Grade 5all lessons here
Grade 6all lessons here

Then archive/move the old curriculum stuff

There are only 14 threads visible on the first page. There are 14 books reported so far for 3rd and 4th grade.  Since everyone will be going at different paces, the forum will be a disorganized mess after a week.

The solution? More subforums. I vote for none of the options in the first post. Vote PWHITE!
