Hi,

Here's my Grade 3 lesson 8 lesson, the main activity (which I got from another post) is making an origami fortune teller, I did this last year and it went down really well.

The last few slides are extra (prob use them the following week) and go with the future bingo sheet.

Happy Friday!

Anyone have any good lesson plans for G1L8 Useful but noisy? I have the lesson I used last year, but it is not very good. But I can't come up with any good ways to improve it. Any suggestions welcome!!

My school has already spent two weeks on Lesson 7, but they just told me that next week we'll still be on Lesson 7. I already covered the lesson in detail. Anyone have any ideas for reviewing the lesson without making the kids fall asleep in the first five minutes? ::)

Hi Lockstock. Did you by any chance attach the PPT for Lesson 7 Grade 1. I couldn't seem to see it, sounds like a good lesson.

Hey, not sure why you couldn't seem to view it so here it is again.

I'll be posting Lesson 7 - Part - B of all three grades tomorrow

Enders - For Grade 1 L8 I got them to do a cell phone survey and some running dictations. Have attached the files.  You could also get them to write their own phone conversation between two celebrities, mine love doing this.  Hope that helps.

Hey everyone, here are my lessons for this week.

Grade 1 - Lesson 7 - Part 2: Looking at prepositions (goes through what they know and maybe don't know then a fun activity at the end) You'll need a soft ball (as in squidgy, not softball) and a basket or something.

Grade 2 - Lesson & - Part 2: Talks about "trying new things". Fun sort of mini-Olympics for them to try new things. Went down really well this morning. Very little prep work. Just need paper some sort of hoop and some large paper or plastic cups. (yes, they play flip cup minus the beer ;p)

Grade 3 - lesson 7 - Part 2: Moves on from 'giving permission' to 'sequences'. There is a worksheet at the end with some sequence puzzles on that they get into. Answers are on the powerpoint to go through at the end.

Any questions feel free to message me.

Have a great week ^^

Cheers for those great lessons and for posting up the other one Lockstock.

I have to drag out lesson 7 with first grade for another week, so there's another educational food based lesson here.

Grade 1 Lesson 7 . Food around the world. (Part 3 or extra class)

The PPT is huge so was split into 2 parts.

Here's my 1st Grade Lesson 7 lesson. It's a role play lesson about ordering in a restaurant.

There's a game about food taste/texture at the end which was adapted from another PPT uploaded here - I forgot who uploaded it though, sorry  :-[

I modified someone else's effort.

I'll be using a running dictation at the start and a word search, and if there's time, I'll use that mystery box game.

This is what I ended up doing for Grade 3 Lesson 8A. The PPT is adapted from another poster.

But the "I think" activity is what I came up with last night. And thank goodness, they enjoyed it. (I've been finding it really hard to keep the 3rd graders' attention these days)
Basically I play 12 different commercial videos, pause it at a specific point and ask them "What will happen next?" I got volunteers to answer ie for number 1:"I think the aliens will destroy the earth" NOTE: On the worksheet I note at the bottom of each question: the point in the video at which I pause it and the name of the video. I didn't make questions for every commercial in each video, so just be aware of that. It took about 15 minutes for the whole activity. Enjoy ;D

Here are links to the videos:

Hi everyone,

My first post here :D.  This is just my second week teaching.  Thanks for posting all your fantastic material!  My school has told me to stick closely to the book and make sure i go through every exercise. I only teach each of my 19 classes once a week for 45 minutes and i'm supposed to cover roughly one lesson a week.  As a result, I dont have a lot of time to throw in fun/creative activities.  So basically i'm struggling to keep the classes fun since the CD is kind of boring. But I do what I can!

I was able to finish with about 12 minutes to go so I used mich's commercial video and worksheet.  We didn't finish it, but it helped liven up the 3rd graders a little.  Thanks Mich!

Any advice to this poor newb is always welcome.

Hey everyone. Does anyone have copies of Mojussa's powerpoint games saved from last year? The hotfile links do not work any more.

Hello everyone. Back to school for me unfortunately.  >:(
Anyway, here is my contribution for Grade 2 Chapter 7. I focused on the issue of volunteerism; how Korea was aided by volunteers after the Korean War, the story of Kathleen Stephens, former Peace Corps volunteer in Yesan who went on to become the United States Ambassador to Korea, how Koreans are helping the Developed World today, and ways in which the students can help in their own community. We will then watch the video "World on Fire" by Sarah McLachlan, which illustrates how money earmarked for such silly things as music videos could be better spent alleviating poverty.  Finally, we will wrap up the class with a spirited game of Connect Four.

Here is the link to the music video:
