This is a powerpoint with the lesson's vocabulary, as well as a memory game.

Here is my recent work on Lesson 2,  Page 29 Part C with Prepositions of place.  I included some photos of my High Schoolers ( I teach every grade from G3 elementary up), so perhaps you could delete those pics and include your own.

Other than that, I think it's all self explanatory.

I have only completed a few of the powerpoints for this lesson, but I wanted to go ahead and put what I hd up for anyone. I really did not like any of the PP's on here for this chapter. My students are generally low-level, but I have some exceptionally high-level classes, so my PP's tend to cater to both types of students (some stuff is absurdly easy, and some stuff is very difficult. Modify according to your students!)

For my Chapter 2, Lesson 1, I talked solely about schools. I showed them the difference between their school and my middle school at home. Then I showed them pictures from the various high schools I went to. I also showed them pictures of interesting schools around the world (this was taken by someone in the JL Haas Grade 3 section!) Then we went over school vocabulary words. The final activity was for students to create a map of their school in English.

For my Chapter 2, Lesson 2, I did a T/F lesson regarding American schools. SUPER successful. My low-level kids could not believe some of the things about American schools. The students were very engaged so I had to change the activity for after my speech. Students were instructed to make an interesting school. The winner from each class will receive a chocopie. They will have the background in interesting schools from Chapter 2, Lesson 1, as well.

For Chapter 2, Lesson 3, students will have a hidden pictures game forcing them to remember and show what they know regarding verbs. I have not dine this lesson, but the Hidden Pictures Game is beyond successful usually. This will lead into a short lesson with -ing. Finally, students will be doing a charades game using the -ing.

I have 3 more lessons planned and will post when I am finished! They will focus on Prepositions and verbs and will have one final game.

Here's what I am doing this Friday.
My PPt is specifically for the top of page 37 Part A.
That's a very small part, but it's what was handed to me so I comply.

My ppt is pretty straight forward, and then I am using an am, are, is zombie ppt I found some time ago (along with a simple but great and effective warmup on the same thing.)

I hope you guys can use them.

You'll have to go through my ppt and change one slide with my name on it (Jeff), and I think I changed one of the zombie slides as well.  Just run through them and you'll see what's what.

Good luck.

I had a lot of fun with this class. My school emphasizes the textbook, so you'll see that in the PPT. I also used the box pictures with the dog, so thanks someone else for posting that! The activity with a bunch of animals was really for the students who finished the book activity faster than the rest of the class.

The "In, on under" song is a great way to get the students pumped if they are sleepy.

I also had a listening activity. The students put a piece of paper (with something hard under it) on top of their heads. I read the students a story and they have to draw it. This is what I read to them, but you should adapt it as you see fit for your kiddos.

"Draw a lake. Next to the lake is a house. In front of the house is a cat. Behind the house are three trees. On a tree, there are two birds. In the lake, there is a boat. Under the boat there is a fish." Make sure to allow for a minute after the activity for giggling and sharing. It takes a bit to calm them back down, but it was enjoyable all the same.

Alright, the part 2 of my Chapter 2 dedication!

Lesson 4 (it says lesson 3) centered on learning prepositions. It was very centric to my town. I went out and took a bunch of pictures of "beautiful" Hwacheon, a very VERY small town. My kids knows where everything is, so the guided practice worksheet worked out very nicely.

Lesson 5 is VERY specific to my kids. I broke them down into 4 teams per class (took bloody FOREVER! But so worth it) [Also before I get berated by someone for not respecting their privacy, I have changed almost all the names on this PP.] I then gave each team 2 chances, in which they came to the front of the room. Each chance they got a sheet of paper telling them how they had to line up. Each team was timed for each chance. The team with the least amount of times won the game. It tested how well they were able to read English, understand prepositions, and read their names in English (which I now realize is their greatest weakness.) HUGE HUGE success, but if you are not willing to put in the time to prepare it, I don't recommend it!

Lesson 6 was just the review. I actually have not finished the review and game, because I won't be teaching this till next week. HUGE Thanks to Sprite06 for the fantastic bomb games! But I figured I would put it up for you guys just in case.

When I was teaching my students today, I intriduced them to the regular verbs and their present tense forms, such as dance - dancing.

My co-teacher mentioned to me something called PTK.
That is a new term I just learned because PTK refferes to verbs
that contain short vowels ending with consonants. When you add the
suffix "ing" to some of these words you have to apply PTK.

For instance hit - hitting.

Some words require just adding the suffix "ing," but others such as the
example above requires doubling the consonat after a short vowel sound
when converting that verb into a present tense.

Hi all,

I have attached some material but I am months behind so apologies if it isn't explained very well. The first PowerPoint I got students to play charades with 'swimming', 'running', 'watching TV' etc. I then continued with the PowerPoint introducing prepositions and then played pirates of the Caribbean at the end of the class. It worked well.

I have also attached another powerpoint and a connect 4 in space game where students have to say things such as 'he is jumping over the net' and 'the dog is sitting between the people.' It wont fill the whole lesson and I cant remember exactly what else I did. Still, hope it helps.

Regards.

Hello there. Here's my Power Point presentation covering prepositions from Chapter 2. It goes over a couple basic ones and then there's a Connect Four game at the end. Well it was supposed to be a Connect Four game originally but then I realized that it might be a little difficult to explain the concept of gravity for a PPT game and just made the rules so the students answer all the questions and at the end whichever team color has the most spaces wins.

I liked the idea of "Where's the cat" from one of the other presentations so I used a bit of that in mine.

Here is a Deal or no Deal bomb game which uses the  material from the PowerPoint posted by smweeks on April 1, 2013. I modified her PowerPoint to use contractions ("He's..." instead of "he is..") becasue the book uses contractions in this section.

Guess the picture activity to practice Am/Is/Are+ doing with a picture asking 'What is she doing?' etc. and they have to guess the answer. Part of the photo is covered. Ignore the photos of celebrities at the end, that was for something else.

Here's my latest covering all of Listen and Speak 1 and 2 and the communication task.  I will race through the CD covering all the points (this is a spectacularly easy chapter with many teachable things), but this should be kinda fun too.

Blessed are the template makers, *as usual.

Thank you rachelxlim for posting that Where's Waldo ppt. It is absolutely amazing and will definitely credit you for the hard work. I would never be able to do that. I hope my students will enjoy it as much as I have in my after-school class I am doing about countries and places! Thank you so much!

This powerpoint covers Listen and Talk 1 and 2. It has a "fill-in-the-blank" type of game inside as well.

Week 1:
Went through the powerpoint. Did the fill-in-the-blank game. This game really just involves them trying to fill in the blanks. I do this for nearly every single one of my classes just to see if they understand the topic a little more. I give each team a dry erase board and a marker for this activity.

I never got to the games at the end. But the games were going to be charades and "spin the marker." Spin the marker basically involves everyone standing around in a circle. Each person decides what they are "doing." It can be anything, i.e. "I am dancing." Then, one person stands in the middle and spins the marker. Whoever the marker points to, they have to say what that person is "doing." If they get it right, they can switch. If not, they have to keep going. Might end up doing this for a review later down the road because I think it's complicated enough that it'll take a good amount of class time.

Week 2:
Powerpoint. Fill-in-the-blank game again. Then I told them a scenario that they had to draw. Thanks for the user who gave this idea. My scenario was: "Draw a house. On the house is a window and a door. In front of the house is a plant. Next to the house is a tree. Behind the tree is a bear. In the bear is a cat.
